The fastest way
Cancel in-app: workspace menu → Subscription → Billing → "Cancel subscription" (owner/admin only). Paid features run to the end of your billing period, then the workspace drops to Free and your data stays. No refunds except system errors, email support@clockify.me, subject "Cancel subscription + refund request, workspace [name]". Replies usually within hours.

Timing matters: Auto-renews monthly or annually; annual plans are charged 12 months upfront and there are no refunds once taken, so cancel before the renewal date. Seat changes only bite from the next cycle, deactivating a user isn't enough, the seat must be removed on the Subscription page before renewal. Past-due subscriptions end immediately on cancellation instead of running to period end.

Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Clockify team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]

Clockify plans you can cancel
- Free$0.00/mo
No subscription to cancel; workspaces auto-drop to Free after a paid plan or the 7-day trial ends. Free plan is capped at 5 active users, so extra invited users are deactivated when a trial or paid plan lapses.
- BASIC (Administration)$4.99/mo
Per seat. Cancel from Subscription → Billing → Cancel subscription; paid access continues to the end of the cycle.
- STANDARD (Timesheeting & Billing)$6.99/mo
$5.49 per seat/month billed annually, $6.99 billed monthly. Every active or invited user on the Team page occupies a paid seat, including the Owner and Admins.
- PRO (Profit & Productivity)$9.99/mo
$7.99 per seat/month billed annually, $9.99 billed monthly. Downgrading instead of cancelling takes effect only when the current period ends.
- ENTERPRISE (Control & Security)$14.99/mo
$11.99 per seat/month billed annually, $14.99 billed monthly. Only Workspace Owners and Admins can cancel or change seats.
- CAKE.com Bundle (Productivity Suite)$15.99/mo
$12.99 per seat/month billed annually, $15.99 monthly; covers Clockify, Plaky and Pumble. Cancelling the Bundle downgrades every workspace in the organisation to Free.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Clockify subscription charges (Basic, Standard, Pro, Enterprise and the CAKE.com Bundle, monthly or annual) carry no refund window at all, the help centre states refunds are only issued when a charge happened because of a system error. Cancelling a workspace subscription stops future billing and keeps paid features until the current period expires, but does not refund the unused part of an annual prepayment. Seat charges are treated the same way: deactivating or removing user seats mid-cycle earns no money back, and seats keep billing until you remove them on the Subscription page. Add-on purchases like extra seats bought mid-cycle are prorated on the way IN (charged immediately), never prorated on the way out.
“We don't offer refunds. But, if you were mistakenly charged due to system error, contact us and we'll immediately issue you a refund. If you wish to test extra features, we recommend activating the free 7-day trial first, BEFORE making any payment.”

Does Clockify charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Clockify’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Clockify
Based on 8 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Asking support for a refund on an annual plan you just bought, Clockify's stated policy is no refunds for cancelled subscriptions unless the charge came from a system error; reviewers report refusals even when the request was made a day after purchase.
- ✕ Deactivating team members on the Team page to cut the bill, Subscriptions are seat-based, deactivated users free the seat but the seat itself keeps billing until you manually remove it on the Subscription page, and removed seats are never refunded.
- ✕ Cancelling an App Store / Google Play purchase from the Clockify web app, Store-billed subscriptions have to be cancelled in the Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings; cancelling inside Clockify won't stop store billing.
- ✕ Deleting the workspace or just abandoning the account to stop charges, Billing is tied to the workspace subscription, not to usage, the renewal keeps running until the subscription itself is cancelled, and deleting data removes your evidence for a refund claim.
- ✕ Cancelling from a Member or Manager login, Only Workspace Owners and Admins can manage the subscription; anyone else simply won't see the Cancel subscription control.
- ✕ Waiting for a pre-renewal warning email before acting, Auto-renewal is automatic each month/year and Trustpilot reviewers report renewing with no renewal notice arriving, then being refused a refund.
Cancelled Clockify but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Clockify, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@clockify.mereferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Clockify’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Clockify charges again.
How Clockify will try to keep you
Clockify may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Pre-cancel plan switch: the cancel article invites you to "explore switching to a different subscription plan" before confirming.”
You say: A downgrade still bills you, downgrades only take effect at the end of the current period. If you want billing to stop, complete the cancellation and let the workspace fall to Free; you can always re-upgrade later.
They’ll say: “Exit survey inserted into the cancellation flow before the cancel is finalised.”
You say: The survey is feedback, not a required step, click through it and confirm you see a cancellation confirmation. Screenshot the Subscription page showing the end date afterwards.
They’ll say: “Trial-extension offer from sales instead of a refund ("contact our sales team for an extension and a demo").”
You say: An extension has no cash value against money already taken. Keep the refund request separate from any sales conversation and ask for a written yes/no on the refund.
They’ll say: “"We don't offer refunds" policy line used to close the ticket on renewal charges.”
You say: The same policy line allows refunds for charges caused by system error, so state precisely what failed: no renewal notice received, seats you removed that were still billed, or paid features that disappeared. Ask them to check the account's email log for the renewal notification.
They’ll say: “Account credit offered in place of a cash refund (reported on review sites).”
You say: Decline credit in writing if you're leaving the product, credit on a tool you no longer use isn't a remedy. Ask for a reversal to the original card via Stripe; if refused, raise a card chargeback with the invoice and your cancellation request as evidence.
They’ll say: “Free-plan feature removal used as an upgrade lever (billable rates, saved reports moved behind paid plans; reviewers report losing report access).”
You say: Export your reports to CSV/Excel before the paid period ends. If you only upgraded to recover data locked by a plan change, say so explicitly in the refund request, that's a mis-sale argument, not a change of mind.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Clockify to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Clockify has ~45 days to defend.
Delete your Clockify account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Clockify’s account settings, email support@clockify.me with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Clockify
Log in as the Workspace **Owner or Admin**, click the three-dot icon next to your workspace name, choose **Subscription**, open the **Billing** tab and select **Cancel subscription**. You'll be shown a short exit survey, then a confirmation. After cancelling you keep full access to paid features until the end of the current billing cycle; when it expires the workspace switches automatically to the Free plan. No further charges are taken. If the subscription is past due, cancelling ends it immediately. Members and Managers cannot cancel, only Owners and Admins see the control.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Clockify refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Clockify contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
