Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Stan team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.
Stan plans you can cancel
- Creator$29.00/mo
Cancel yourself in Settings > Billing > Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of the current billing cycle. Your store, products, analytics and emails are saved so you can reactivate later.
- Creator Pro$99.00/mo
Same Settings > Billing cancel flow as Creator. Stan sometimes emails a one-time offer of 30 days of Creator Pro free. If you don't cancel it, it renews at $99/month on day 31. Stan sends a reminder email on day 28.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Creator and Creator Pro subscription fees: Stan's support team reviews refunds by hand. You can only get one after the subscription is fully cancelled, for a single billing period paid in the last 30 days, and not just because you didn't use the platform. Refunds take 5-10 business days to show up. Proration only applies when you switch plans (Creator ↔ Pro, monthly ↔ annual). Cancelling partway through a month doesn't get you a prorated refund. Purchases from a creator's Stan store (courses, downloads, memberships, calls) are different: each creator sets their own refund policy. Stan can't guarantee those refunds, so ask the creator first. Stan support can pass your request on to them.
“Your subscription must be fully canceled. We are unable to refund payments for active subscriptions. The payment must have been within the last 30 days.”

Does Stan charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Stan’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Stan
Based on 3 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Emailing mail@stan.me, Stan's help center says Stan.me has nothing to do with Stan.store and emails sent there never reach Stan. The only support address is friends@stanwith.me.
- ✕ Cancelling after your billing date has passed, If you cancel after the invoice has opened, the cancellation only takes effect at the next billing date. Stripe keeps trying to collect the open charge in the meantime. Stan's example: billed Jan 1, cancelled Jan 3, cancellation doesn't happen until Feb 1.
- ✕ Deleting your account during the free trial instead of cancelling the subscription, A Trustpilot reviewer says they deleted their account before the trial ended, were still charged, and then couldn't log in to check. Cancel in Billing first, then delete if you want to.
- ✕ Asking for a refund because you didn't use Stan, Stan's refund policy says it won't refund based on non-usage of the platform.
- ✕ Asking for several months of charges back at once, Stan's policy says it can't refund payments from more than one billing period, and only payments made in the last 30 days.
- ✕ Asking for a refund while the subscription is still active, Stan says it can't refund payments on active subscriptions. Cancel fully first, then ask.
- ✕ Asking Stan directly to refund a course, download or membership you bought from a creator, Creators set their own refund policies and Stan can't guarantee refunds. One Trustpilot reviewer says the creator and Stan each pointed to the other.
- ✕ Deleting a product to stop customers' recurring payments (creator side), Stan says deleting a product doesn't cancel customers' subscriptions, and cancelling your own Stan account doesn't either. Each one has to be cancelled by hand or customers keep getting charged.
- ✕ Calling Stan Store, None of the sources list a phone line for Stan Store. Support is by email and chat.
Cancelled Stan but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Stan, treat it as not cancelled. Email
friends@stanwith.mereferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Stan’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Stan charges again.
How Stan will try to keep you
Stan may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Exit questionnaire inside the cancel flow (users report having to answer several questions before the cancellation finishes)”
You say: Answer quickly, skip any offers, and keep going until you see the final confirmation. Don't close the tab until you get the cancellation email.
They’ll say: “No pause option, so you have to cancel. Stan reassures you that everything is saved and you can reactivate anytime”
You say: That's fine: your products and data stay saved after you cancel. Cancel now so you stop paying. Reactivating later charges your card straight away.
They’ll say: “One-time emailed offer of 30 days of Creator Pro free, which renews at $99/month on day 31”
You say: If you accept the Pro trial, put a reminder in your calendar for day 27. Stan's warning email arrives on day 28 and the $99 charge comes on day 31.
They’ll say: “Billing-date trap: a cancellation after the invoice opens only applies from the next cycle, and Stripe keeps retrying the charge”
You say: Cancel at least a day before your renewal date. If a charge went through anyway, cancel fully and ask for a refund within 30 days. It has to be a single billing period.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Stan to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Stan has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Stan’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Stan’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Stan must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Stan account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Stan’s account settings, email friends@stanwith.me with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
