The 4-step cancellation

  1. Email the verified address

hello@superprof.com, the standard route for Superprof.

  2. Use a precise subject

Subject: Cancellation Request, [your account email]

  3. Send this template

    Hi Superprof team,

I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email].

Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, I'm entitled to cancel this contract by notice through the same channel it was formed in.

Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken.

    Best,
    [your name]
  4. Wait for confirmation

Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

Superprof plans you can cancel

What happens to what you’ve already paid

Two very different charge types exist here. The Student Pass (£39/month UK, $49/month US) is the platform connection fee: Superprof's terms say it is not refundable once a tutor accepts your request and contact details are released, and cancelling only stops the next 30-day renewal, there is no pro-rata refund for the unused remainder. The stated exception is tutor fault: if the tutor never delivers a lesson (including a free first lesson), a reimbursement can be requested, with proof. Separately, lessons booked and paid through the platform follow the tutor's own cancellation policy, cancel more than 24 hours before the lesson for a full refund, and inside 24 hours you get 0%, 50% or 100% depending on that tutor's setting, paid back to the account registered on your profile. Tutor Premium/Professional Pass fees have no documented refund route; cancelling only halts future renewals.

Once a lesson request is accepted by a tutor and the contact details are transmitted to the student, Superprof will not be able to refund the Student Pass. The student can only be reimbursed if, due to the fault of the tutor, no lessons have taken place, including any free lessons.

Does Superprof charge a cancellation fee?

We found no cancellation fee in Superprof’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide. If you signed up online within the last 14 days, the Consumer Contracts Regulations give you a cooling-off right to walk away, fee-free, for most digital subscriptions.

What doesn’t work for cancelling Superprof

Based on 5 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.

Cancelled Superprof but still being charged?

Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:

If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Superprof charges again.

How Superprof will try to keep you

Superprof may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.

Your rights when cancelling

The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.

United Kingdom

  • Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013
    14-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.

You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Superprof’s own policy.

  • Consumer Rights Act 2015
    Services must be as described.

If Superprof’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.

Worldwide

  • Card-issuer chargeback
Your bank can reverse the charge.

Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Superprof has ~45 days to defend.

Rights in other regions (United States, European Union)

United States

  • FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)
Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.

The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Superprof to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.

  • California ARL (auto-renewal law)
    Renewal must be cancellable online.

California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.

European Union

  • Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU
14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.

EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Superprof must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.

Delete your Superprof account (not just cancel)

Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.

If there’s no delete option in Superprof’s account settings, email hello@superprof.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under UK GDPR (Article 17, the right to erasure). They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.

Common questions about cancelling Superprof

Log in and go to your **Dashboard → "Student pass" tab**, then click **Suspend**. Note the tab only exists while you have an active pass, it appears once a tutor accepts your lesson request. Tutors cancel in the **"Premium" tab → "Cancel my renewal"**. Superprof's own guidance also allows cancelling by email: write to **hello@superprof.com** with your account details and an explicit cancellation request. Suspension is not a refund, you keep access for the remaining days of the paid 30-day cycle, and no new charge should follow. Always keep the written confirmation.

Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Superprof refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Superprof contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
