Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi LucidLink team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]

Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

LucidLink’s refund policy
LucidLink does not offer prorated refunds when you cancel mid-term, you keep access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, and that's it. To stop the next renewal you must cancel at least 15 days before the term ends. EU consumers exercising the 14-day right of withdrawal can claim a proportional refund for the unused portion. Charges continue through the end of the billing period in which you delete your workspace.
“If Customer terminates a Service, Customer may use its subscription until the end of its then-current term and, if Customer cancels the applicable Service no later than [fifteen (15) days] prior to the end of the recurring term, its subscription will not be renewed after its then-current term expires. However, Customer will not be eligible for a prorated refund of any portion”

Does LucidLink charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in LucidLink’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling LucidLink
Based on 5 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Pausing your subscription, LucidLink explicitly states billing cannot be paused, the only way to stop charges is to delete the workspace.
- ✕ Deleting only your filespace and leaving the workspace active, Subscription is managed at workspace level; the workspace keeps billing even after every filespace is gone.
- ✕ Removing members to drop the bill, Peak member count drives 'true-up' charges on the next invoice, so removing members mid-cycle does not retroactively reduce the bill.
- ✕ Cancelling mid-cycle to get a partial refund, Terms state no prorated refund; charges apply through the end of the current period regardless of when you delete.
- ✕ Letting the trial 'expire' without action assuming data is safe, If you don't choose a plan by trial end the workspace is suspended and members lose access to filespace data.
Cancelled LucidLink but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from LucidLink, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@lucidlink.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on LucidLink’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if LucidLink charges again.
How LucidLink will try to keep you
LucidLink may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Support suggests downgrading to a smaller plan instead of cancelling (the pricing FAQ routes downgrade requests through support).”
You say: Thanks, but a smaller plan still bills per-member and the per-100GB overage fees make this uneconomical for our use case. Please proceed with full cancellation and confirm the date billing stops.
They’ll say: “'You can keep your account active with no filespaces', implies a soft pause but the workspace still triggers per-member charges.”
You say: I understand the account can stay active with no filespaces, but I want to fully delete the workspace today so I stop incurring per-member charges. Please confirm deletion has been actioned this billing period.
They’ll say: “Backup-friction stall, terms warn deletion is permanent and irreversible, prompting users to delay to migrate data.”
You say: Data has been exported to our own S3 bucket. Please proceed with workspace deletion immediately so the cancellation lands before the next billing cycle starts on [date].
They’ll say: “Annual-commitment lock-in, 'Annual billing commitments are for 12 months'.”
You say: Under EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83) and UK CRA 2015 a long-term contract for digital services that has materially changed in price or terms is terminable. Please confirm exit date or escalate to billing.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires LucidLink to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; LucidLink has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of LucidLink’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If LucidLink’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. LucidLink must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your LucidLink account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in LucidLink’s account settings, email support@lucidlink.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling LucidLink
Sign in at **app.lucidlink.com** as the workspace owner. First delete every filespace (Filespace settings → Delete filespace → confirm with email code), then go to Workspace settings → Delete workspace. Cancellation only takes effect at the end of the current billing period, you'll still be charged for the cycle you cancel in. If you can't access these settings, email **support@lucidlink.com** from the billing address on file.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the LucidLink refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The LucidLink contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
