The fastest way
Cancel Lovable in Settings → Plans & Billing → Manage → Downgrade to Free, then confirm 'Cancel Subscription' in the Stripe window that opens (the real cancel button is hidden there). There's no cancel email path, but you can request a refund at support@lovable.dev. Paid access runs until your billing period ends.
Or let yoink do it for you.
30 seconds. AI emails Lovable, handles retention, chases the refund. You approve once, then sleep.

- Online (fastest): Direct cancel flow: lovable.dev/settings (Plans & Billing → Manage → Downgrade to free → confirm in Stripe portal)
- Email: Lovable doesn’t process cancellations by email. Still worth sending one: it dates your cancellation request in writing, which matters for disputes and refunds.
Timing matters: Cancel before your next billing date to avoid another charge; monthly plans end at the next billing date and annual plans run to the end of the annual period. No prorated refund for the remainder of the cycle.
The email that backs it up
Lovable won’t action a cancellation from an email alone, use the fastest channel above for the cancellation itself. This email still earns its place: it puts your cancellation date in writing (your evidence if they keep billing) and it’s where the refund request happens.

Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Lovable team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

What happens to what you’ve already paid
Lovable's terms make credits and fees non-refundable except where required by law, and there's no prorated refund for unused days when you cancel mid-cycle. However, Lovable's own billing FAQ says it does provide refunds for subscriptions if you're not satisfied or haven't used the service, you email support@lovable.dev with your reason and it's reviewed case-by-case. If you forgot to cancel and were charged for an unused cycle, contact support quickly with the charge details. Downgrade to Free first so no further charges accrue while your request is reviewed.
“Credits means the prepaid, non-refundable, non-redeemable units you purchase or receive to use the Services, as described on our Pricing Page.”

Does Lovable charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Lovable’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Lovable
Based on 7 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Emailing support to request the cancellation itself, Lovable's documentation states there is no email address to request cancellation and no separate cancel action, you must self-serve by downgrading to Free. Email is useful for refunds and paper trails, but it is not a cancellation channel.
- ✕ Looking for a 'Cancel Subscription' button on the plan card, There is no direct cancel button. You have to click 'Downgrade' under the Free plan, which opens the Stripe billing portal where the real cancel button lives, widely reported as a dark pattern.
- ✕ Closing the Stripe window after clicking Downgrade, The final Stripe confirmation is the step that actually stops charges. If you close the window before completing it, your subscription stays active.
- ✕ Using the 'credits per month' dropdown to move to Free, That dropdown only lists paid tiers, so it cannot be used to downgrade to Free. You must use Manage → Downgrade to free.
- ✕ Expecting a prorated refund for unused days or leftover credits, Canceling mid-cycle doesn't entitle you to a prorated refund; unused monthly and rollover credits expire at the end of your billing period and are not refunded.
Cancelled Lovable but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Lovable, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@lovable.devreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Lovable’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Lovable charges again.
How Lovable will try to keep you
Lovable may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “A 'Why are you leaving?' reason prompt appears during the downgrade flow.”
You say: Pick any reason and click Continue, the reason has no bearing on whether cancellation goes through. Keep moving to the Stripe confirmation; that final click is the only step that actually stops charges.
They’ll say: “Cancellation is framed as a 'Downgrade to Free', not a cancellation, friction designed to make people think they haven't actually left.”
You say: Downgrading to Free IS canceling your paid subscription. Follow Manage → Downgrade to free, complete the Stripe step, and screenshot the confirmation as proof.
They’ll say: “Credits framed as a reason to stay, you keep remaining credits until the period ends and they 'reactivate' if you re-subscribe before expiry.”
You say: You don't need to keep paying to preserve credits. Downgrade now; your current-cycle credits remain usable until the period ends, and re-subscribing later restores unexpired balances. Don't let the credit dangle keep you subscribed.
They’ll say: “Reddit users report being charged again after downgrading or support not replying.”
You say: Screenshot the Stripe cancellation confirmation immediately. If you're charged after cancelling, email support@lovable.dev with the receipt attached and flag it as a billing error (separate from a goodwill refund). If ignored, escalate through your card issuer or a chargeback.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Lovable to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Lovable has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Lovable’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Lovable’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Lovable must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Lovable account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Lovable’s account settings, email support@lovable.dev with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Lovable
Go to your **Profile icon → Settings → Plans & Billing** (also labelled *Plans & credit usage*), click **Manage**, then choose **Downgrade to free**. This opens the **Stripe billing portal**, where you click **Cancel Subscription** to actually stop charges. There is no standalone 'Cancel' button and no email cancellation path, you self-serve. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then your workspace moves to Free. Take a screenshot of the Stripe confirmation as proof.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Lovable refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Lovable contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
