Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Vercel team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

- Pro$20.00/mo
Downgrade to Hobby from Team Settings → Billing, or delete the Team from Settings → General. Cancellation takes effect at the start of the next renewal period.
- Enterprise

Vercel’s refund policy
Vercel's Terms of Service state fees are non-refundable. The only contractual exception is when Vercel terminates your account without cause, they then refund the pro-rated, unearned portion. In practice, the billing team will occasionally refund accidental Pro charges (wrong plan, immediate cancel) if you open a ticket quickly, but renewals are explicitly non-refundable. UK and EU consumers retain statutory cancellation rights that may override this clause.
“All fees are non-refundable, except as expressly stated otherwise in this Agreement.”

Does Vercel charge a cancellation fee?
Vercel’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Vercel
Based on 7 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Deleting your payment card to stop billing, Vercel blocks card removal until a replacement is added; usage still accrues and the team gets suspended for non-payment rather than cancelled.
- ✕ Ignoring the renewal and hoping it lapses, Pro auto-renews monthly; the Pro trial converts to a paid Pro plan unless you downgrade before it ends.
- ✕ Using the in-dashboard 'Support' button for billing, It routes to an AI chatbot first; users on the community forum report tickets going days without a human response.
- ✕ Cancelling v0 to also cancel Vercel Pro (or vice-versa), v0 Premium and Vercel Pro are billed as two separate subscriptions, cancelling one does not stop the other.
Cancelled Vercel but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Vercel, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@vercel.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Vercel’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- You're inside a minimum term. Some Vercel plans keep charging until a fixed term ends even after you cancel, check the plan notes above.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Vercel charges again.
How Vercel will try to keep you
Vercel may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Vercel offers a downgrade to the free Hobby plan instead of full cancellation”
You say: Downgrading is fine if you just want to stop paying, but if you also want your data wiped or to leave the platform entirely, choose 'Delete Team' in General Settings, note this destroys all projects under that team.
They’ll say: “Pro trial has no 'cancel trial' button, only 'End Trial and Start Pro Plan'”
You say: Before the trial converts, downgrade the team to Hobby from Settings → Billing. If the option is greyed out, email billing@vercel.com referencing the trial end date and ask them to revert the team to Hobby before the renewal.
They’ll say: “Billing tickets routed through the AI chatbot before a human responds”
You say: Skip the chatbot by emailing billing@vercel.com directly, it's Vercel's documented address for invoice and unrecognized-charge disputes and bypasses the in-dashboard agent.
They’ll say: “Support tells users the charge is 'already cancelled' while subscription remains active”
You say: A refund for a past invoice does NOT cancel future renewals. Confirm in Team Settings → Billing that the plan now reads 'Hobby' and screenshot it; otherwise the next invoice will fire.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Vercel to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Vercel has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Vercel’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Vercel’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Vercel must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Vercel account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Vercel’s account settings, email support@vercel.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Vercel
Open the team you want to cancel, go to **Settings → Billing**, and choose **Downgrade to Hobby**. The downgrade takes effect at the start of the next renewal period, so you keep Pro features until then. If you want to remove the team entirely (and all its projects), use **Settings → General → Delete Team** instead. If neither button is visible, common during a Pro trial, email `billing@vercel.com` from the account email asking them to downgrade the team before the renewal date.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Vercel refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Vercel contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
