Figma’s refund policy
Figma subscriptions are non-refundable by default, on a monthly plan, your seat stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then downgrades to free Starter. There are no prorated refunds for mid-cycle cancellation, and Pay-As-You-Go credits don't refund. The 30-day window in the terms is the notice period to stop the next annual renewal, not a money-back window. Exceptions exist for billing errors, accidental seat additions, and EU/UK consumer-law cooling-off claims, email support@figma.com with the invoice and a clear explanation.
“Customer may cancel its subscription(s) within 30 days before the end of Customer's annual term by contacting Figma's support team at support@figma.com. If Customer cancels its subscription(s), Customer will not receive a refund of any portion of the fee paid for Customer's annual term, unless stated otherwise. Pay-As-You-Go charges accrued are non-refundable.”

Does Figma charge a cancellation fee?
Figma’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Figma
Based on 2 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Cancelling via the mobile app, Figma's mobile app doesn't surface billing controls; cancellation must be done in a desktop browser or the desktop app by a team owner/admin.
- ✕ Posting in the Figma Forum to get a refund, Figmate moderators state they can't review billing or refund cases in the Forum for privacy/security reasons, they only escalate the ticket internally.
- ✕ Phoning Figma to cancel, Figma doesn't offer phone or live-chat support, the only direct channels are the Fig AI chatbot and email (Professional+ only).
- ✕ Removing your card to stop billing, Cancelling the plan, not removing payment, is what stops invoices; users report past-due notices when they only deleted the card.
- ✕ Cancelling the team but leaving extra seats assigned, Charges for editor/Full seats stick until you manually remove the user, even after you click Cancel plan.
- ✕ Asking for a pro-rata refund mid-month, Figma support explicitly confirms they don't prorate, the seat stays active to the end of the billing period and that's the only credit you get.
Cancelled Figma but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Figma, treat it as not cancelled. Email
billing@figma.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Figma’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- You're inside a minimum term. Some Figma plans keep charging until a fixed term ends even after you cancel, check the plan notes above.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Figma charges again.
How Figma will try to keep you
Figma may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Cancellation-reason survey before the final 'Cancel plan' click”
You say: Pick any reason, none of them change the outcome. The plan only downgrades after you click Cancel plan on the final screen, so don't stop midway thinking you're done.
They’ll say: “'Your team will lose features' warning (unlimited version history, team libraries, Dev Mode)”
You say: Export anything you need first: file → Export, and download a copy of FigJam boards. Version history beyond 30 days is gone on Starter, but your files themselves stay.
They’ll say: “'Cancel via support email' friction for Organization/Enterprise”
You say: Org and Enterprise can't self-serve cancel. Email support@figma.com at least 30 days before your renewal date with subject 'Non-renewal notice, [workspace name]' so you don't get auto-charged for another annual term.
They’ll say: “Charging for accidentally added editor seats with no refund”
You say: Remove the extra seat immediately, then email support@figma.com citing the accidental add and request a goodwill credit. Reddit/Forum reports show this is granted inconsistently, be polite, attach the invoice, and reference your support ticket number.
They’ll say: “Slow ticket queue ('higher than usual volume')”
You say: If your case is silent for 5+ business days, reply to the same thread to bump it, and post a public follow-up on the Figma Forum referencing your ticket number, moderators routinely escalate flagged tickets internally.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Figma to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Figma has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Figma’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Figma’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Figma must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Figma account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Figma’s account settings, email billing@figma.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Figma
In a desktop browser, open the Figma File Browser, click the team name in the sidebar, then **Admin → Settings → Plan and billing → Cancel plan**. Pick a cancellation reason and confirm. You'll keep Professional features until the end of the billing period, then the team auto-downgrades to the free Starter plan. Only team owners or admins see the Cancel button, if you don't see it, you're not the admin. For Organization or Enterprise, you have to email support@figma.com instead.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Figma refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Figma contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
