Timing matters: Most trial memberships become monthly memberships if not cancelled within the trial period, which is set by each website and can be as short as 2 days. Reviewers report renewals processed a day early, so cancel at least 48 hours before the renewal date and keep Epoch's confirmation email.

Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Epoch team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. If your policy allows it, I'd also appreciate a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the current period. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Epoch publishes no fixed refund window for memberships it bills. Refunds on recurring charges (trials that turned into monthly or annual memberships) are case by case, and the website that sold the membership sets the underlying terms. When Epoch does approve a credit on a membership or one-time charge, it says the credit is issued immediately and takes up to 5 business days to show. For charges you never made (card fraud), Epoch sometimes refuses or sends you to the merchant, so a bank dispute is the fallback.
“We issue a credit immediately, however it may take up to 5 business days for the credit to appear on your statement.”

Does Epoch charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Epoch’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Epoch
Based on 6 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Turning off auto-renew only on the merchant website, A BBB complaint says the user switched off auto-renew in the merchant's account settings and Epoch still charged the annual renewal. Cancel through Epoch's Find My Purchase tool as well, and keep its confirmation email.
- ✕ Searching your statement for the website's name, Epoch's FAQ says your statement will not show the website's name, only Epoch.com. The only way to see what you bought is the Find My Purchase lookup.
- ✕ Accepting the first refund offer, A 2026 Trustpilot reviewer said Epoch first offered a 4-month service extension, then 15%, then 30%, and finally 50% after escalation. Early offers are not the ceiling.
- ✕ Asking Epoch to refund a purchase from a scam or unresponsive website, A BBB complainant said Epoch refused and said only the website could issue the refund, even though the website wasn't responding. A card dispute may be needed.
- ✕ Upgrading from a trial before it ends, A BBB review says upgrading minutes after buying a $1.95 2-day trial led to being charged for both the trial and the full membership.
Cancelled Epoch but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Epoch, treat it as not cancelled. Email
billing@epoch.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Epoch’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Epoch charges again.
How Epoch will try to keep you
Epoch may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Offering a free service extension instead of a refund (reported on Trustpilot: a 4-month extension offered in place of refunding a $365 annual charge)”
You say: I don't want an extension. I want the charge reversed in full to my original payment method, and written confirmation that the membership is cancelled.
They’ll say: “Partial refunds that go up step by step (15% → 30% → 50%, reported on Trustpilot)”
You say: I'm declining any partial refund. Please refund 100% of the charge. If it can't be resolved by email, I'll dispute it with my card issuer.
They’ll say: “Saying the charges were disclosed before purchase (Epoch's standard reply in BBB and Business Consumer Alliance complaints)”
You say: I cancelled before this charge, or never agreed to it. Please check my member ID's history, including when I cancelled, and refund the charge.
They’ll say: “Saying Epoch is only the processor and the merchant must refund (reported in BBB complaints)”
You say: Epoch.com is the merchant on my statement and runs the billing support for this membership. Please refund the charge or escalate it to the merchant on my behalf and confirm in writing.
They’ll say: “Delays because the refund team only works Monday to Friday (reported on ComplaintsBoard)”
You say: Please confirm in writing the date the credit will be issued and the amount, and include my member ID.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Epoch to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Epoch has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Epoch’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Epoch’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Epoch must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Epoch account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Epoch’s account settings, email billing@epoch.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Epoch
Use Epoch's **Find My Purchase** tool at [epoch.com/help/cancel](https://epoch.com/help/cancel). Fill in any two of the four fields (such as the email you signed up with, your card details or your member ID). Then cancel the membership. Epoch emails the address used at purchase to confirm it's cancelled and that you won't be billed again. If the form can't find your purchase, email **billing@epoch.com** or call **+1 800 893 8871** (24/7) and they'll locate and cancel it. Save the confirmation email. It's your proof if you're charged again.
