Timing matters: Cancel before your billing anniversary. The plan runs to the end of the current cycle and doesn't renew, but overage from the final cycle is still invoiced. Downgrades aren't prorated, so change plans close to the renewal date. Long-term Orders need written notice before the Order Term expires.

Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Apify Billing team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]

Apify Billing plans you can cancel
- Free$0.00/mo
No card is needed. You get $5 of platform usage each month. When it runs out, access is blocked until the next monthly cycle, so you aren't billed for more.
- Starter$19.00/mo
Cancel any time under Console > Billing > Subscription. The plan runs to the end of the current cycle and then doesn't renew. Usage beyond the $19 of prepaid credit is still invoiced. Annual billing is advertised at 10% off.
- Scale$199.00/mo
Self-serve cancel in Billing settings. Access continues to the end of the cycle. If you downgrade mid-cycle you lose the extra RAM and datacenter IPs straight away, and the fee isn't prorated.
- Business$999.00/mo
Self-serve cancel in Billing settings. If you signed a separate long-term Order (longer than month-to-month), you can't terminate for convenience. You need to send written notice before the Order Term ends to stop it auto-renewing.
- Creator (developers)$1.00/mo
Costs $1/month and the first 6 months are paid up front. It comes with $500 of platform usage. This is a one-time subscription: once cancelled, including automatically after a failed payment, you can't subscribe to it again.
- Enterprise
Custom Order. The cancellation terms are whatever your signed Order specifies, and you need written notice before the Order Term ends.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Subscription plan fees (Starter, Scale, Business, Creator) are non-refundable. Cancelling just stops the next renewal, and downgrading mid-cycle isn't prorated. The only pro-rata refund in the terms is for unused prepaid fees when you terminate under Section 15.5.2. Overage (pay-as-you-go platform usage beyond your prepaid credit) is added to your next invoice and can still be charged after you cancel. Unused prepaid credit expires at the end of each cycle and is never paid out. For Apify Store Actor charges (pay-per-event or pay-per-result runs, or legacy rental fees), you raise a dispute on that Actor's Issues tab. Apify's own guidance says it usually 'compensates' in platform credit through a gift invoice rather than returning money, but support can review requests for exceptions.
“Fees are non-cancellable, non-refundable, and shall not be subject to any set-off unless stated otherwise.”

Does Apify Billing charge a cancellation fee?
Apify Billing’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Apify Billing
Based on 6 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Asking for a cash refund of a subscription fee after you've cancelled, The General Terms say fees are non-refundable and that Apify won't refund fees on downgrade or termination, except under Section 15.5.2.
- ✕ Downgrading mid-cycle to save money, Downgrades aren't prorated. Only unused platform usage rolls over, and you lose the higher-tier RAM and IPs straight away.
- ✕ Assuming that cancelling stops all charges, Apify's pricing FAQ says you may still be charged for excess platform usage after you cancel. Overage is billed on the next invoice.
- ✕ Expecting unused prepaid credit to be refunded or carried over, Apify's pricing page says unused credit isn't rolled over and expires at the end of the billing cycle.
- ✕ Phoning to cancel, Apify doesn't publish a customer-service phone number. Support is by chat, Discord and email only.
- ✕ Relying on a bare 'please cancel' email instead of the Console, Third-party guides report that Apify says it can't cancel accounts by email or phone and points users to Billing settings. The General Terms do recognise written notice, though, so send email as a backup paper trail rather than your only cancellation step.
- ✕ Asking an Actor developer on the Issues tab for a cash refund, Apify's compensation guidance tells developers to call it 'compensation', not a refund, and to return platform credit. Cash exceptions have to be escalated to Apify support.
Cancelled Apify Billing but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Apify Billing, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@apify.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Apify Billing’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Apify Billing charges again.
How Apify Billing will try to keep you
Apify Billing may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Pointing you to downgrade to the Free plan instead of cancelling”
You say: I want the paid subscription cancelled so it doesn't renew at the end of this billing cycle. Please confirm in writing that my account won't be charged a plan fee again.
They’ll say: “Offering platform-credit 'compensation' instead of money back”
You say: Credit on an account I'm closing has no value to me. I'm asking for a refund of [amount] to my original payment method. Your own guidance says exceptions can be escalated to the Apify team, so please escalate this.
They’ll say: “Quoting the 'non-cancellable, non-refundable' fees clause”
You say: I understand your standard terms. However, Section 15.5.2 allows a pro-rata refund of unused prepaid fees, and statutory consumer rights in my region can't be waived by contract. Please review my request against both.
They’ll say: “Redirecting cancellation emails back to self-serve Billing settings”
You say: Section 15.3 of your General Terms lets me terminate by delivering written notice to Apify. This email is that notice. Please process it and confirm the effective date.
They’ll say: “Billing overage on the final invoice after you've cancelled”
You say: I cancelled on [date] and had no intention of running further usage. Please itemise the overage charges and reverse any that came from runs scheduled after my cancellation.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Apify Billing to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Apify Billing has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Apify Billing’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Apify Billing’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Apify Billing must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Apify Billing account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Apify Billing’s account settings, email support@apify.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Apify Billing
Log in to **Apify Console**, open **Billing** (console.apify.com/billing), go to the **Subscription** tab and choose to cancel or downgrade to Free. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the current billing cycle and then won't renew. Before you cancel, set a monthly usage hard limit on the Limits page and stop any scheduled Actor runs. Apify warns that you can still be charged for excess platform usage after cancelling. Then save the confirmation email. If the Console route fails, send written notice to support@apify.com, which Section 15.3 of the General Terms recognises.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Apify Billing refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Apify Billing contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
