The Range plans you can cancel
- One-off online order
Cancel before dispatch by contacting Customer Care or using the 'Contact Us' link in your order confirmation email.
- Click & Collect
Can be cancelled any time up until collection by contacting Customer Care; uncollected orders auto-cancel after 7 days.
- Made-to-Order items
Cancellable only within the first 48 hours after ordering, after that, non-cancellable and non-returnable.
- Range Plus / Marketplace items
Sold and dispatched by third-party partners, must be returned via the partner, not to a store.
The Range’s refund policy
The Range gives online shoppers 14 days from receipt to notify them of a change-of-mind return, plus a further 14 days to actually return the item (28 days total). Made-to-Order items are excluded after the first 48 hours. Marketplace / Range Plus Partner items follow a separate partner policy. Refunds for cancelled Click & Collect orders are paid back within 3 to 5 working days.
“For online purchases, including "Click & Collect" purchases or purchases made via one of our in-store order points, you must notify us of your intention to return within 14 days of receipt. You must then either return or arrange the collection of the item within a further 14 days.”

Does The Range charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in The Range’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide. If you signed up online within the last 14 days, the Consumer Contracts Regulations give you a cooling-off right to walk away, fee-free, for most digital subscriptions.
What doesn’t work for cancelling The Range
Based on 2 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Cancelling a Made-to-Order item after 48 hours, Terms state Made-to-Order products are non-returnable and cannot be cancelled once the 48-hour processing window passes.
- ✕ Returning a Marketplace / Range Plus Partner item to a store, Help centre confirms items sold and dispatched by Range Plus Partners cannot be returned to The Range stores.
- ✕ Calling a central complaints line, Reddit/Mumsnet users report The Range's automated line directs callers to email, and there is no published complaints phone number, only the contact form, WhatsApp and live chat.
- ✕ Chargeback for delivery fees alone, MoneySavingExpert thread notes card chargebacks won't recover the postage portion when the goods themselves were refunded.
- ✕ Reselling buyers cancelling for a refund, T&Cs state orders made by resellers lose all rights to cancel, edit, return or refund.
Cancelled The Range but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from The Range, treat it as not cancelled. Email
product@therange.co.ukreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on The Range’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if The Range charges again.
How The Range will try to keep you
The Range may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Offer a credit note instead of a cash refund”
You say: Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations and the Range's own published policy, change-of-mind online returns notified within 14 days must be refunded to the original payment method. A credit note is not an acceptable substitute, please process the cash refund.
They’ll say: “Tell you to wait for the courier to return the item first”
You say: Once I notified you within the 14-day cancellation window, your obligation to refund is triggered. Please confirm the refund timeline in writing today; if the goods are with your courier, that is between you and your carrier.
They’ll say: “Bouncing you between The Range and the Marketplace/Range Plus partner”
You say: Under the Consumer Rights Act, my contract is with the trader I paid. The Range took payment, so The Range is responsible for resolving the refund, please don't redirect me to the partner.
They’ll say: “Closing the ticket after 4 days of 'no reply'”
You say: I have replied to every message in this thread, please see the timestamps below. Do not close this ticket; treat this email as a continued complaint and respond on the substance.
They’ll say: “Auto-replies via WhatsApp / chatbot only”
You say: I need a written response from a human Customer Care agent, not a bot. Please escalate this to a named handler and reply by email so I have a record.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of The Range’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If The Range’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; The Range has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (European Union)
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. The Range must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your The Range account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in The Range’s account settings, email product@therange.co.uk with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under UK GDPR (Article 17, the right to erasure). They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling The Range
You can cancel any order or item before it's dispatched by contacting The Range's Customer Care team, either via the contact form at therange.co.uk/contact, by replying to your order confirmation email and clicking 'Contact Us' next to the item, or via WhatsApp / live chat. Once an item has shipped, you'll need to wait for delivery and then start a standard 14-day return instead. Click & Collect orders can be cancelled any time up until collection.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the The Range refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The The Range contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
