The fastest way
Cancel Tamara Smart in the Tamara app: More → Membership → Tamara Smart → Cancel membership. You have to clear your total outstanding balance first, including this month's AED 19 fee. If that fails, email customer.care@tamara.co with the subject 'Cancel Tamara Smart membership, [registered phone]'. Tamara doesn't publish a confirmation time. Benefits last until the cycle ends.
Or let yoink do it for you.

- Phone: Call +966 800 118 1118 and say “cancel my service”. Expect a retention pitch, decline it twice and hold firm.
- Email: Tamara doesn’t process cancellations by email. Still worth sending one: it dates your cancellation request in writing, which matters for disputes and refunds.
Timing matters: Smart cancels only in the Tamara app (More → Membership → Cancel membership), and only after you've paid the total outstanding balance, including the current month's Smart fee. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Smart statements are due on the 1st of the month, and the paid fee starts from your second statement after the free month, so cancel before the trial's first billing date (shown at sign-up). Installment orders can't be cancelled with Tamara at all. The merchant has to cancel or accept the return.
The email that backs it up
Tamara won’t action a cancellation from an email alone, use the fastest channel above for the cancellation itself. This email still earns its place: it puts your cancellation date in writing (your evidence if they keep billing) and it’s where the refund request happens.

Tamara plans you can cancel
- Tamara SmartAED 19.00/mo
Cancel in the app: More → Membership → Tamara Smart → Cancel membership. Tamara's help center says you must pay your total outstanding payments before you can cancel, and that includes the current month's fee. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, and Smart benefits stay active until the next billing cycle. Unified monthly statements keep coming after you cancel. The first month is often free, and some reviewers say Smart was switched on at checkout without their clear consent. The Saudi homepage shows the same plan at 19 per month in a symbol that renders as 'á 19', which is probably the SAR sign.
- Tamara Smart+
The homepage lists Smart+ ('Your anywhere, anything shopping'), but none of the sources give its price or cancellation steps. It probably uses the same app route (More → Membership), but that isn't confirmed.
- Pay Later (Pay in 3 up to 24 months)
Pay Later isn't a subscription. You can't cancel an installment plan with Tamara directly. You ask the store to cancel or accept a return, and Tamara adjusts or refunds the plan once the store updates the order status. Pay in 3 is fee-free. Longer plans may carry an APR.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Tamara Smart membership fees (AED 19 a month) are non-refundable under Tamara's Smart terms, and cancelling mid-cycle doesn't get you a pro-rata refund. You keep the benefits until the billing period ends. Pay Later installment orders work differently: you ask the store to cancel or accept a return, and once the store updates the order Tamara reduces your plan or refunds what you've paid (card refunds can take up to 21 working days to show). If a store won't update a cancelled or returned order, raise a 'Get help from Tamara' claim within 120 days of ordering. Claims can take up to 21 days, and successful Buyer Protection claims are refunded by Tamara.
“All payments are non-refundable and will not be refunded on a pro-rata basis for any cancellation initiated during the Subscription term.”

Does Tamara charge a cancellation fee?
Tamara’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Tamara
Based on 5 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Cancelling Tamara Smart while you still owe money, The help center says you have to pay your Total Outstanding payments, including the current month's Smart fee, before the Cancel membership option works.
- ✕ Asking for a pro-rata refund of the current Smart month, Smart terms clause 4.2 rules out pro-rata refunds for cancellations during the subscription term. Cancelling only stops the next renewal.
- ✕ Deleting the app or ignoring the Smart charge, Smart renews automatically every month until you cancel in your account. Trustpilot reviewers say they lost 8-10 monthly payments before they noticed.
- ✕ Choosing a wallet refund from the store and then stopping installment payments, Tamara's FAQs (as shown on retailer pages) say that if you pick a wallet refund, you still have to pay Tamara the pending installments for that order.
- ✕ Stopping payments on an order you cancelled with the store but the store hasn't updated, Tamara keeps billing until the merchant updates the order status. The fix is a claim raised within 120 days, not missed payments. Repeated late payments can get your account suspended and hurt your credit score.
- ✕ Relying on the phone line alone, App Store reviewers say they called the toll-free number and other numbers several times and nobody picked up. Use in-app chat or email so you have a written record.
Cancelled Tamara but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Tamara, treat it as not cancelled. Email
customer.care@tamara.coreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Tamara’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Tamara charges again.
How Tamara will try to keep you
Tamara may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Smart is switched on at checkout, often as a free first month, and renews silently into paid months (Trustpilot reports of 18 to 19 AED charges without clear consent)”
You say: I didn't give explicit consent to a Tamara Smart subscription. Your own Smart Terms (clause 2.1.4) say a free trial needs my explicit consent and a valid payment method before it starts. Please cancel the membership now and refund every Smart fee charged to my account.
They’ll say: “Cancellation is blocked until the full outstanding balance, including the current month's Smart fee, is paid”
You say: I want to cancel Tamara Smart today. Please cancel it effective immediately and confirm in writing that no more Smart fees will be added. If the current fee can't be waived, record my cancellation request as dated today so the next cycle isn't billed.
They’ll say: “Pointing to the 'non-refundable, no pro-rata' clause to refuse any Smart refund”
You say: I understand clause 4.2. I'm not asking for a pro-rata refund of a membership I chose. I'm disputing charges for a membership I never knowingly signed up for, and that's covered by your explicit-consent requirement.
They’ll say: “Saying the order still shows as active because the merchant hasn't updated it, and continuing to collect installments”
You say: This order was cancelled or returned to the merchant on [date]. I've raised a claim through 'Get help from Tamara' within 120 days with evidence attached. Please pause collection on this order while you investigate and refund any installments I've already paid.
They’ll say: “Slow or no responses to complaints”
You say: This is a formal complaint under your Customer Terms clause 20. If it isn't resolved within 30 business days, I'll take it to Sanadak (UAE customers) or the Saudi Central Bank complaint channel (KSA customers), as your own terms and privacy policy describe.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Tamara has ~45 days to defend.
Delete your Tamara account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Tamara’s account settings, email customer.care@tamara.co with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under data-protection law in most jurisdictions. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Tamara
Open the **Tamara app**, tap **More**, then **Membership**, go to Tamara Smart and tap **Cancel membership**. You have to clear your **total outstanding payments** first, and that includes the current month's Smart fee. After you cancel, your Smart benefits last until the next billing cycle and you'll still get unified monthly statements. If the button fails or is greyed out, email **customer.care@tamara.co** from the email on your account with your registered phone number. Take a screenshot of the cancellation screen in case you're billed again.
