Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Supabase team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. If your policy allows it, I'd also appreciate a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the current period. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

What happens to what you’ve already paid
Supabase does not refund your card. When you downgrade mid-cycle, the unused portion of the fixed plan fee is converted into organization credits that apply to future invoices and never expire. Compute and other usage-based charges are billed in arrears and are non-refundable. AWS Marketplace purchases have a separate 48-hour cancellation window via a support ticket.
“As stated in our Terms of Service, we do not offer refunds to the payment method on file. When you downgrade from a paid plan to the Free Plan, you will get credits for the unused time on the paid plan.”

Does Supabase charge a cancellation fee?
Supabase’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Supabase
Based on 6 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Asking billing support for a refund to your card, Supabase's billing FAQ explicitly states 'we do not provide refunds' and directs users to the Terms of Service; unused time is issued as credits only.
- ✕ Cancelling only inside the Supabase dashboard if you subscribed via Apple/Google Play, In-app store subscriptions must be cancelled through the App Store or Play Store, the Supabase dashboard has no visibility of them.
- ✕ Deleting a project to stop billing, Billing is tied to the organization, not individual projects. Even with all projects removed, the paid plan subscription continues until you downgrade the org to Free.
- ✕ Disputing compute overage charges, Compute usage fees are billed in arrears and Supabase states these are non-refundable, even after downgrading to Free.
- ✕ Cancelling an AWS Marketplace Supabase offer more than 48 hours after purchase, Supabase's AWS Marketplace FAQ says cancellation is only possible within 48 hours via a support ticket; after that, cancellation is no longer possible.
Cancelled Supabase but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Supabase, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@supabase.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Supabase’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- You're inside a minimum term. Some Supabase plans keep charging until a fixed term ends even after you cancel, check the plan notes above.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Supabase charges again.
How Supabase will try to keep you
Supabase may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Downgrade friction, warning modal listing what you'll lose (backups stop, projects will pause after 7 days inactivity, add-ons removed).”
You say: The downgrade is still one click. Confirm the modal, Supabase docs confirm downgrades take effect immediately and you keep credits for unused time.
They’ll say: “Free-tier project pausing after 7 days of inactivity to pressure a re-upgrade.”
You say: Your data is preserved during a pause. Export via pg_dump before you stop using the project, then only re-activate on demand, you're not obligated to return to Pro.
They’ll say: “Unexpected end-of-cycle usage/compute charges after you downgrade.”
You say: These are arrears-billed usage from the prior cycle and are not refundable. Set the Pro spend cap to ON before your next cycle, or downgrade at the start of a cycle to minimise exposure.
They’ll say: “'Credits, not refunds' offer when you complain about a charge.”
You say: If you never intend to use Supabase again, credits are worthless. Cite UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 / EU Consumer Rights Directive for digital services not provided with reasonable care and skill, or dispute the charge with your card issuer under Section 75 / chargeback rights.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Supabase to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Supabase has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Supabase’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Supabase’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Supabase must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Supabase account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Supabase’s account settings, email support@supabase.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Supabase
Sign in at supabase.com, open your organization, go to **Billing → Subscription**, click **Change subscription plan** and select the **Free Plan**.
