Spond plans you can cancel
- Spond App (Free)$0.00/mo
No subscription, the app is free. 'Cancelling' means deleting your Spond profile in-app or via the web.
- Spond Club (Free)$0.00/mo
Free club-management platform. Clubs terminate by written notice; Spond may terminate with one (1) month's written notice.
Spond’s refund policy
Spond itself doesn't process refunds for end-users, the app is free, so there's no subscription fee. If you paid a club, team or event through Spond and want your money back, the group's designated contact person (the admin who set up the payment) must issue the refund. In Spond Club, admins refund through the Payments overview; the money returns to your original card within 5 to 10 business days. There is no transaction fee for processing a refund.
“If you would like to request a refund for a payment related to an event or a payment request, please contact the group's designated contact person.”

Does Spond charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Spond’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Spond
Based on 7 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Asking Spond support to refund a club or event payment directly, Spond's help center explicitly states payments cannot be refunded through Spond, it must be organised between the member and the recipient.
- ✕ Restoring a deleted Spond profile, Spond confirms profile deletion is permanent: 'Everything will be permanently deleted and there will be no possibility of recovery.'
- ✕ Cancelling a 'subscription' in account settings, Spond has no paid consumer subscription, both the app and Spond Club are free. If you see a recurring charge labelled SPOND AS, it's a membership/event fee set up by your club admin, not a Spond subscription.
- ✕ Searching for a group to leave it without admin help, Spond only generates closed groups; you can't search them. Leave from inside the group → 'more' → 'leave group'.
Cancelled Spond but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Spond, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@spond.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Spond’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Spond charges again.
How Spond will try to keep you
Spond may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Group admin asks you to stay on the team roster after you've paid dues”
You say: Politely confirm in writing that you're withdrawing and request a pro-rata refund of unused membership fees. Reference the help-center line that admins can refund via Spond Club's Payments overview at no transaction fee.
They’ll say: “Club admin claims they can't refund because 'Spond doesn't allow it'”
You say: Spond's own docs say refunds are issued by clicking the three dots on the payment's details page in Spond Club, with funds returning to the original card in 5 to 10 business days. Ask them to do exactly that.
They’ll say: “Club says it has hit its 'refund credit limit'”
You say: Spond's docs confirm admins can apply to increase the credit limit. Ask them to submit the request rather than refusing the refund.
They’ll say: “Admin ignores your refund request”
You say: Escalate to support@spond.com (or compliance@spond.com for GDPR/data-handling angles). If the payment was by card, file a chargeback with your bank, Spond's terms confirm Stripe handles disputes and can debit the club's payout account.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Spond has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Spond’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Spond’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Spond must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Spond account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Spond’s account settings, email support@spond.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Spond
Open the Spond app → tap your profile → **Delete account** → enter your password and confirm. On web, log in at spond.com, visit the account settings page and select **delete my user account**. Spond warns: deletion is permanent, your contact info is removed, your content anonymised, and there's no way to restore the profile. You'd need to create a new one and be re-invited to any groups.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Spond refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Spond contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
