Cancellation Request — [your account email]Send this template
Hi Replit team, I'm writing to request the immediate cancellation of my subscription tied to this account, effective today. Under applicable consumer-protection law (UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, EU Directive 2011/83/EU, or the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule depending on your jurisdiction), I'm entitled to terminate this continuous service contract through the same channel it was formed in — please confirm by reply that no further charges will be made. If your policy permits, I'd also appreciate a pro-rata refund for any unused portion of the current billing period. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

Replit’s refund policy
Replit refunds the most recent subscription charge if you ask within 30 days of purchase. Agent, AI and any other usage-based (UBB) charges are non-refundable because the compute has already been consumed. Cycles (virtual tokens) and custom domain registration fees are also non-refundable. Cancel first in Settings → Billing, then email support@replit.com from your registered address with the invoice number and payment intent ID (starts with pi_).
“We allow for full refunds for subscription payments made within 30 days of purchase. However, Usage-Based Billing (UBB) charges are non-refundable, as they reflect metered usage that has already occurred.”

What doesn’t work for cancelling Replit
Based on 2 sources — Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Deleting your Replit account to stop billing — Account deletion is separate from subscription cancellation and can wipe your Repls/apps immediately; use Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription instead.
- ✕ Deleting the organization to cancel an individual subscription — Replit's docs describe cancellation via 'deleting your organization' — but this permanently removes all Repls, apps and deployments for Teams/Org accounts and doesn't apply to individual Core plans.
- ✕ Asking Replit to refund App Store / Google Play purchases — Replit cannot refund in-app purchases — Apple or Google must process those refund requests.
- ✕ Requesting a refund for Agent / AI / usage-based charges — UBB and Agent compute is non-refundable per the Terms of Service and billing docs.
- ✕ Pausing the subscription instead of cancelling — Replit doesn't offer a pause option — the only way to stop billing is full cancellation.
- ✕ Refunding Cycles — Cycles Terms state Cycles are not refundable and have no cash value; a terminated account forfeits the balance.
How Replit will try to keep you
Replit may respond with a retention offer — a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Post-cancellation usage charge appears (usage that crossed the billing threshold after you clicked cancel, or a retry of a failed payment).”
You say: Replit's own docs confirm charges can post after cancellation for pre-cancellation usage or failed-payment retries. Ask support to itemise the pi_ payment intent, the exact dates of the metered usage and confirm no further charges will land — under UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 / EU CRD, unauthorised recurring charges after a valid cancellation are refundable.
They’ll say: “Bill shock from Agent credits exhausting and switching to pay-as-you-go without a spend cap.”
You say: Replit acknowledges no built-in spending cap and that overages are auto-charged. If you were never shown a warning, request a good-will refund of the overage and cite that the FTC/UK CMA expect clear pre-consent for material changes to recurring charges.
They’ll say: “Support redirects you to the billing page instead of processing the refund (per Discourse complaint).”
You say: Reply in the same ticket, quote the Terms verbatim ('full refunds for subscription payments made within 30 days of purchase'), attach the invoice and payment intent ID, and set a 5-business-day response deadline before escalating to your card issuer via chargeback.
They’ll say: “Cancel button on the Replit UI bounces to Stripe with 'nowhere to actually cancel' (community-reported bug).”
You say: If the Stripe portal doesn't show a cancel button, screenshot both the Replit and Stripe pages and email support@replit.com — Replit can cancel server-side. Also disable the card in Stripe from your bank while the ticket is open.
Your rights when cancelling
Consumer law varies by where you live. The strongest hook for your country is the one to lead with when you contact the company — pick the one that applies and quote it in your email.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Replit to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up — same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
- Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA)Negative-option billing must be clearly disclosed.
Federal law (15 U.S.C. §8401) requires Replit to clearly disclose any negative-option / auto-renewal terms before charging. Buried terms = potential federal violation. Report to the FTC alongside any FTC complaint.
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Replit’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Replit’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Replit must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
- Digital Content Directive (EU) 2019/770Refund rights for digital content failures.
Specific to digital subscriptions — gives you the right to a price reduction or contract termination when Replit’s digital service is not as advertised, with no time limit beyond the contract period.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes — “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Replit has ~45 days to defend.
Common questions about cancelling Replit
Sign in at replit.com, click your profile → **Account → Billing**, then click **Cancel Subscription**. A Stripe tab opens — click **Cancel Subscription** again to confirm. Your Core or Pro features remain active until the end of the current billing period, after which the account reverts to the free Starter tier. Individual account cancellations preserve your Repls; deleting an Organization is a separate, destructive action.
