What happens to what you’ve already paid
Paramount+ operates on a no-refund basis and does not credit partial months or unused time when you cancel. Instead, your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, so you keep access to what you've already paid for. The terms note statutory exceptions may apply, regional consumer law (UK/EU cooling-off, etc.) can still entitle you to a refund in certain cases. If you subscribed through an app store, any refund must be requested from that store under its own policy.
“you will not be refunded for any fees you have paid. However, there are certain circumstances in which you may be legally entitled to a refund, which are set out in these Terms of Use”
, Paramount+ terms

Does Paramount+ charge a cancellation fee?
Paramount+’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends. If you signed up online within the last 14 days, the EU Consumer Rights Directive gives you a cooling-off right to walk away, fee-free, for most digital subscriptions.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Paramount+
Based on 2 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Deleting or uninstalling the app, Removing the app does not stop billing, the subscription must be cancelled in your account or the app store where you signed up.
- ✕ Cancelling on the Paramount+ website when you subscribed via Apple/Google/Amazon/a partner, Third-party-billed subscriptions can only be cancelled through that store or partner (Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Spectrum, etc.), not on paramountplus.com.
- ✕ Expecting a prorated refund after cancelling mid-cycle, Policy explicitly gives no refunds or credits for partial billing periods; you only retain access until the period ends.
- ✕ Cancelling the moment the free trial ends, Trials convert to paid automatically; users report you must cancel before the trial period ends (commonly cited as ~24 hours prior) to avoid the charge.
Cancelled Paramount+ but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Paramount+, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@paramountplus.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Paramount+’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Paramount+ charges again.
How Paramount+ will try to keep you
Paramount+ may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Discounted win-back / promotional offers (e.g. $0.99/month for 2 months, 50% off) surfaced at or after cancellation”
You say: If you only want to stop paying, decline the discount, accepting it re-starts an auto-renewing subscription that reverts to full price (currently up to $13.99/€11.99). Confirm the cancellation goes all the way through the final 'Yes, Cancel' step.
They’ll say: “"Keep access until the end of your period" framing to discourage cancelling now”
You say: You lose nothing by cancelling immediately, access still runs to the end of the period you already paid for. There's no benefit to waiting, and waiting risks forgetting before the next renewal.
They’ll say: “Reactivation nudges: watch history and watchlist retained to entice resubscription”
You say: Cancelling doesn't delete your account or history, so you can leave freely and return later without losing your watchlist, but you may forfeit any grandfathered rate or promo pricing.
They’ll say: “For unresolved billing disputes, first-line support stalling (BBB complaints cite slow/unhelpful responses)”
You say: If support won't fix an incorrect charge, escalate in writing citing your statutory refund rights, and in the UK consider a Section 75 / chargeback claim or the ombudsman route; escalate to the executive complaints team rather than accepting a stalled ticket.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Paramount+ must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Paramount+ has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United States, United Kingdom)
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Paramount+ to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Paramount+’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Paramount+’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
Delete your Paramount+ account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Paramount+’s account settings, email support@paramountplus.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under GDPR Article 17, the right to erasure. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Paramount+
If you subscribed **directly** at paramountplus.com: sign in, click your **profile/username** (top right), choose **Account**, scroll to **Cancel Subscription**, then follow the prompts and confirm with **Yes, Cancel**. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. If you signed up through **Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or a partner** (e.g. Spectrum, Sky), you must cancel in that store/partner's subscription settings instead, cancelling on the Paramount+ site won't work for those.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Paramount+ refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Paramount+ contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
