The fastest way
Bank Muscat closures are branch-led: visit any branch with ID, unused cheques and your debit card, settle balances and cancel standing orders. Log it first by phone +968 2479 5555 or email care@bankmuscat.com, subject: "Account/Card Closure Request, [Account No.]". Secure-mail requests get a reply within 3 working days; closure can take weeks.
Or let yoink do it for you.

- Phone: Call +968 2479 5555 and say “cancel my service”. Expect a retention pitch, decline it twice and hold firm.
- In person (fastest): NOREPLY processes cancellations at their locations, bring ID and ask for written confirmation before you leave.
- Post: No postal closure route is published; deposit pre-closure and maturity changes require a written request handed in at a branch.. Send it tracked so you can prove delivery.
- Email: NOREPLY doesn’t process cancellations by email. Still worth sending one: it dates your cancellation request in writing, which matters for disputes and refunds.
Timing matters: Settle all liabilities and cancel standing orders before closure, and return the debit card plus unused cheque leaves. On credit cards, closing before the Annual Calculation Date purges Cash Back not yet credited, and any annual fee already posted for the new card year is usually not refunded, so time closure just after a statement cycle, not just after a renewal.
The email that backs it up
NOREPLY won’t action a cancellation from an email alone, use the fastest channel above for the cancellation itself. This email still earns its place: it puts your cancellation date in writing (your evidence if they keep billing) and it’s where the refund request happens.

Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi NOREPLY team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. I'm exercising my statutory right under the consumer-protection law of my jurisdiction to cancel by written notice. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. If your policy allows it, I'd also appreciate a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the current period. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Bank Muscat is a retail bank, not a subscription, so there is no blanket refund window, the rule depends on the charge type. For pay orders and local payments, the bank's own form states refunds are only considered once stop-payment instructions are confirmed by the withdrawing bank. Card charges (a disputed merchant debit, a duplicate ATM/POS transaction, a recurring subscription billed to a Bank Muscat VISA card) go through a card dispute/chargeback raised with the contact centre or branch, not through a self-serve refund button, and card-network dispute limits usually run 120 days from the transaction. Account and card fees (closure fees, annual card fees, account-maintenance charges) are set in the Schedule of Service Charges and are refunded only as a goodwill waiver, typically after a formal complaint; the bank commits to answering secure-mail enquiries within 3 working days.
“Refund requests will only be considered after confirmation of receipt of stop payment instructions from the withdrawing Bank.”

Does NOREPLY charge a cancellation fee?
NOREPLY’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.
What doesn’t work for cancelling NOREPLY
Based on 10 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Emailing care@bankmuscat.com and expecting the account or card to be closed on that basis alone, Closure is a documented in-branch process (request submitted at a branch, card and unused cheques surrendered). Email is useful as a dated paper trail and for chasing, but Trustpilot reviewers report repeated emails with no resolution.
- ✕ Using 'Block Card' in Internet/Mobile Banking as a cancellation, The bank's FAQ only exposes Block Debit Card / Block Credit Card under Customer Service > Service Requests, a block stops usage but leaves the card account open, so annual fees and charges can keep accruing.
- ✕ Cancelling a fixed/term deposit or changing maturity instructions online, Bank Muscat's FAQ explicitly directs customers to visit a branch and provide a written request to pre-close a deposit or change maturity instructions.
- ✕ Emptying the account and walking away (letting it go dormant after leaving Oman), Expat forum reports say the account only deactivates around Civil ID expiry, and Quora answers describe fees building up instead of a clean closure; no written closure or clearance letter is produced, which can surface later as an unsettled liability.
- ✕ Asking the merchant's bank or the app to reverse a subscription charged to your Bank Muscat card, Card disputes must be raised with Bank Muscat as the issuer via the contact centre/branch; the bank's secure mailbox explicitly refuses instructions relating to financial transactions.
Cancelled NOREPLY but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from NOREPLY, treat it as not cancelled. Email
care@bankmuscat.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on NOREPLY’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if NOREPLY charges again.
How NOREPLY will try to keep you
NOREPLY may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Branch deflection, phone and email agents route every closure back to "visit your nearest branch", which the bank's own account FAQs and 2479 5555 messaging repeat.”
You say: Fine, but log it in writing first. Send the closure request to care@bankmuscat.com with your account/card number and the date, then treat the branch visit as execution of an already-dated instruction. If fees hit after that date, quote the email date when asking for reversal.
They’ll say: “Card blocked instead of closed, Internet Banking only offers Block Card, so a "cancelled" card can stay open with fees accruing.”
You say: Ask explicitly for card ACCOUNT CLOSURE and a no-liability/clearance confirmation, not a block. Request the closure reference number in writing and a statement showing a zero balance after the final cycle.
They’ll say: “Complaint absorbed into the online feedback form with no outcome, Trustpilot reviewers describe complaints and follow-up emails going unanswered for weeks.”
You say: File via the bank's User-Feedback form (Feedback Type: Complaint) to force a reference number, keep the 3-working-day secure-mail SLA in the email, and state that if it is unresolved you will escalate to the Central Bank of Oman as the banking regulator.
They’ll say: “Loyalty/reward pressure, Credit Card T&Cs mean closing before the Annual Calculation Date purges un-credited Cash Back and forfeits Sindbad miles, which agents use to persuade you to keep the card another cycle.”
You say: If you're near the annual date, decide deliberately: either redeem/claim first, or state in writing that you accept forfeiture and want closure effective today so the next annual fee does not post. Don't let "you'll lose your points" restart a billing year.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; NOREPLY has ~45 days to defend.
Delete your NOREPLY account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in NOREPLY’s account settings, email care@bankmuscat.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under data-protection law in most jurisdictions. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling NOREPLY
Bank Muscat closures are a branch process. Visit any branch, submit the closure request, and return the debit card and any unused cheque leaves for cancellation/destruction. Before that you must settle all liabilities and cancel any standing orders, and a closure charge from the Schedule of Service Charges may apply. Send the same request to **care@bankmuscat.com** or call **+968 2479 5555** first so there's a dated paper trail, Bank Muscat answers secure-mail enquiries within 3 working days. Ask for a written closure confirmation or clearance letter before you consider it done.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the NOREPLY refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The NOREPLY contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
