Hi Meta Verified team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]

Meta Verified’s refund policy
Meta Verified offers a 14-day satisfaction-based money-back guarantee for new subscribers who sign up directly. Outside that window, Meta does not pro-rate refunds for mid-period cancellations unless required by law or because verification failed. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, refunds are governed by Apple's or Google's policies, not Meta's. Cancel via web at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge; your badge typically stays for the remainder of the paid period (up to a month).
“Meta is now offering a 14-day money back guarantee on a Meta Verified subscription if you're not totally satisfied with the product.”

Does Meta Verified charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Meta Verified’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Meta Verified
Based on 2 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Cancelling an iOS subscription inside the Facebook or Instagram app, If you subscribed via the App Store, Meta can't cancel it, you must cancel through Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on the device.
- ✕ Cancelling a web-purchased subscription from the mobile app, If you signed up via browser, the mobile app won't let you manage or cancel, you have to return to facebook.com.
- ✕ Asking Meta support for a pro-rata refund, Meta does not provide automatic pro-rated refunds for mid-period cancellations outside the 14-day guarantee.
- ✕ Expecting the blue badge to disappear immediately after cancelling, The verified badge persists for up to one month after cancellation, which can block name/profile changes in the meantime.
- ✕ Emailing press@meta.com for billing or cancellation help, That mailbox is for media enquiries, not consumer support, refunds and cancellations are routed through in-app support only.
Cancelled Meta Verified but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Meta Verified, treat it as not cancelled. Email
press@meta.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Meta Verified’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Meta Verified charges again.
How Meta Verified will try to keep you
Meta Verified may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Meta keeps the verified badge active for ~30 days after cancellation, which can lock name, username, photo and date-of-birth changes until it expires.”
You say: Acknowledge the cooldown in writing and ask Meta to remove the badge immediately on request, cite that you cannot operate the page (name change blocked) while it lingers.
They’ll say: “First-line Meta Verified 'human support' often replies with templated denials and says they can't escalate Instagram/Facebook account issues.”
You say: If support stonewalls, invoke the 14-day money-back guarantee in writing referencing the date of first charge, and dispute via your card issuer (Section 75 in the UK, chargeback elsewhere) if Meta doesn't act.
They’ll say: “Meta routes refund decisions to Apple/Google when you subscribed in-app, then both sides point at each other.”
You say: Open the refund request in the store you actually paid (reportaproblem.apple.com or play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory), Meta cannot refund a store-billed subscription.
They’ll say: “Cancellation deadline buried: you must cancel ≥24 hours before the next renewal to avoid the next month's charge.”
You say: Cancel the same day you decide to leave, even if the badge runs to period-end, the renewal lock-out hits at the 24-hour mark.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Meta Verified to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Meta Verified has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Meta Verified’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Meta Verified’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Meta Verified must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Meta Verified account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Meta Verified’s account settings, email press@meta.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
