- Phone: Call +1 800 445 6937 and say “cancel my service”. Expect a retention pitch, decline it twice and hold firm.
- Online (fastest): Direct cancel flow: claims.lowesprotect.com
- Email: Lowe's doesn’t process cancellations by email. Still worth sending one: it dates your cancellation request in writing, which matters for disputes and refunds.
Timing matters: Orders: online cancellation only works before the item enters shipping or is picked up. After that, return it in store. Protection Plans: cancel within 30 days for a full refund, otherwise pro rata. The cancellation takes effect the day Lowe's receives it. Major appliances must be returned within 48 hours of delivery.
Cancelling a Lowe's order by email
Lowe's won’t action a cancellation from an email alone, use the fastest channel above for the cancellation itself. This email still earns its place: it puts your cancellation date in writing (your evidence if they keep billing) and it’s where the refund request happens.

Does Lowe's charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Lowe's’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Lowe's
Based on 7 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Emailing Lowe's to cancel an order, Lowe's does not provide a direct customer service email address on its website. One customer emailed a cancellation request and got no confirmation. The advice they received was to phone Customer Care with the order number.
- ✕ Cancelling online after the order has shipped or been picked up, The online Cancel button only works before shipping. After that you have to return the item. If you're unable to cancel your item(s) or aren't completely satisfied with your Lowe's purchase, simply return the merchandise to any Lowe's store in the US.
- ✕ Returning a standard item after 90 days, One reviewer was refused a return on a $30 item still new in its box because it had been more than 90 days I was told no. Not offer for store credit.
- ✕ Asking the local store manager to approve a large special-order refund, When he tried to process the refund at his local Kansas City Lowe's, the store manager couldn't handle it and pushed McMillan to corporate. Corporate then asked him to sign a release before refunding $1,400.
- ✕ Returning a major appliance as a normal 90-day return, Major appliances and several power-equipment categories must be returned within 48 hours of delivery or pickup.
Cancelled Lowe's but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Lowe's, treat it as not cancelled. Email
customercare@lowes.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Lowe's’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Lowe's charges again.
How Lowe's will try to keep you
Lowe's may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Holding back a refund until the customer signs a 'Release of All Claims' / non-disparagement form”
You say: Decline to sign. Lowe's says the form is optional: The Lowe's spokesperson said the form is voluntary. State in writing that you want the refund under the standard return policy without signing any release, and escalate to Executive Customer Relations if it is withheld.
They’ll say: “Offering store credit instead of a cash or card refund for a cancelled order”
You say: Policy says refunds go to the original payment method. One customer refused store credit and escalated: I had to escalate to Lowe's Executive Customer Relations. The matter was sent back to the store, and a different store manager personally refunded my cash.
They’ll say: “Delaying the refund until the product 'returns to the warehouse'”
You say: If you are told you must wait for product to return to a warehouse before a refund is started, ask for that policy in writing and escalate to executive customer relations.
They’ll say: “Withdrawing a compensation offer made by a district manager once the case is escalated”
You say: Get any offer confirmed in writing (email or text) before accepting. One customer reported being told that All former offers were null and void once Executive Customer Relations took over. A written offer is your proof.
They’ll say: “Closing a BBB complaint as resolved after a single phone call”
You say: Reply to the business response and say clearly that the issue is not resolved. A customer reported that Lowe's written BBB response simply said they had spoken with me and considers the matter closed.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Lowe's has ~45 days to defend.
Delete your Lowe's account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Lowe's’s account settings, email customercare@lowes.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
