Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Kinguin team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. Best, [your name]
Wait for confirmation
Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.
Kinguin plans you can cancel
- KING's Pass, Noble's Tier (1 Month)$3.59/mo
You can cancel anytime and there is no penalty or minimum commitment. Benefits continue until the end of the current 30-day billing cycle. Recurring billing only works with PayPal or a credit card, so the charge can also be stopped through PayPal's automatic payments settings or your card issuer.
- KING's Pass, 12 Months$35.90/yr
Billed yearly, which works out to $2.99 a month. Kinguin markets it as '2 months free'. The same cancel-anytime terms apply. Cancel before the annual renewal date to avoid being charged for another year.
- Kinguin Buyer Protection (per-order add-on)
This is not a subscription. It is a fee charged per item or order at checkout, and third-party reviews put it at about 10% of the item price. Untick it before paying if you don't want it.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Marketplace key purchases (games, software, gift cards, top-ups): if you haven't revealed the key, you can return it yourself from the dashboard within 24 hours for an instant refund to Kinguin Balance. After 24 hours, support can process the refund manually, as long as the key is still unrevealed. Once you reveal (claim) a key you lose the 14-day withdrawal right, but you still have a defect claim against the seller if the key doesn't work. Kinguin may also offer to resell an unused revealed key for you. Refunds go to Kinguin Balance by default. Leave that balance unspent and ask support in writing to send it to your original payment method, which takes up to 5 business days. KING's Pass subscription: cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the current 30-day cycle. No pro-rata refund is documented.
“You have fourteen (14) days to withdraw from a purchase transaction without giving any reason (unless Clause 10.9 applies).”

Does Kinguin charge a cancellation fee?
Kinguin’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Kinguin
Based on 6 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Calling Kinguin by phone, Kinguin publishes no customer-service phone line. Support runs through tickets on support.kinguin.net, live chat and help@kinguin.net. The numbers on complaint-aggregator sites are unverified and malformed.
- ✕ Asking for a change-of-mind refund after revealing the key, Kinguin's legal notice says you lose the right to withdraw once you claim the product, because a revealed key can't be resold. The fallback is the resale option, or a defect claim if the key doesn't work.
- ✕ Spending some of the refunded Kinguin Balance, then asking for a card or PayPal refund, Kinguin's help center only allows a refund to the original payment method if the whole refunded Balance is left untouched.
- ✕ Waiting for the third-party seller to fix a dead or region-locked key, Many forum reports describe sellers going silent after a complaint. Kinguin support has to step in, and slow ticket replies are common.
- ✕ Assuming paid Buyer Protection guarantees a cash refund, Buyers who paid for protection still report slow handling, being told to contact Steam themselves, and refunds issued as store balance instead of to their card.
Cancelled Kinguin but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Kinguin, treat it as not cancelled. Email
help@kinguin.netreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Kinguin’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Kinguin charges again.
How Kinguin will try to keep you
Kinguin may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Refunds are issued to Kinguin Balance (store credit) by default instead of to your card or PayPal.”
You say: Please refund order [ID] to my original payment method, not Kinguin Balance. The refunded Balance is untouched, as your help center requires. I expect it within 5 business days.
They’ll say: “For duplicate or already-used keys, support asks you to get the activation date from Steam support, or asks for lots of account data and screenshots.”
You say: Your own Legal Notice says sellers are liable if keys don't work, and Steam tells buyers to contact the seller. I've attached the redemption error, the order ID and the timestamp. Please replace the key or refund me within 7 days.
They’ll say: “Offering to resell a revealed key instead of giving a refund.”
You say: This is not a change-of-mind return. The key was defective when it was delivered, so I'm making a defect claim against the seller through Kinguin, not asking for a resale.
They’ll say: “Tickets go unanswered for days. Several users say Kinguin only replied after they posted a negative Trustpilot review.”
You say: I opened ticket [#] on [date] and haven't had a resolution. If you don't fix this within 7 days, I'll start a chargeback with my card issuer or PayPal and post a public review describing what happened.
They’ll say: “Implying that only Buyer Protection customers get refunds or priority help.”
You say: Buyer Protection is optional. My statutory right to a working product, and the withdrawal rights in Section 10 of your T&C, apply whether or not I paid for it.
They’ll say: “Users report emails saying the 'legal department' would cancel their PayPal case.”
You say: I'm keeping my PayPal case open until I get a refund. I've kept the order confirmation, screenshots of the key error and all of our correspondence as evidence.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Kinguin to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Kinguin has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Kinguin’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Kinguin’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Kinguin must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Kinguin account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Kinguin’s account settings, email help@kinguin.net with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Kinguin
It depends on the order status. If you weren't charged, Kinguin **cancels it automatically**. If you were charged and the order is complete, you can **return the unclaimed product** from your order or open a support ticket. Pre-orders can be cancelled at [kinguin.net/app/dashboard/orders](https://www.kinguin.net/app/dashboard/orders). Keep in mind that once you reveal a key, you lose the right to withdraw, so cancel before you open it. If something goes wrong, email **help@kinguin.net** with your order ID.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Kinguin refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Kinguin contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
