The fastest way
Cancel Google Fi in the Fi app or at fi.google.com: Account tab → Manage plan → Cancel service (or Leave Google Fi). There's no cancellation email and no termination fee. Port your number to a new carrier first if you want to keep it. Refunds and final bills can take up to 90 days. Support: 1-844-825-5234.
Or let yoink do it for you.
30 seconds. AI emails Google Fi, handles retention, chases the refund. You approve once, then sleep.
Get yoink (App Store) →Every way to cancel Google Fi
- Phone: Call 1-844-825-5234 and say “cancel my service”. Expect a retention pitch, decline it twice and hold firm.
- Online (fastest): Direct cancel flow: fi.google.com/account#/plan
- Email: Google Fi doesn’t process cancellations by email. Still worth sending one: it dates your cancellation request in writing, which matters for disputes and refunds.
Timing matters: Unlimited plans bill the full month even if you cancel mid-cycle; recurring charges are billed in advance, so cancel near the end of a paid cycle. Promo/device credits may claw back if you cancel within a lock window (historically 120 days of activation).
The email that backs it up
Google Fi won’t action a cancellation from an email alone, use the fastest channel above for the cancellation itself. This email still earns its place: it puts your cancellation date in writing (your evidence if they keep billing) and it’s where the refund request happens.

Cancellation Request, [your account email]Send this template
Hi Google Fi team, I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email]. Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through. Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken. If your policy allows it, I'd also appreciate a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the current period. Best, [your name]

Google Fi’s refund policy
There are no early termination fees to cancel Google Fi. On the Flexible plan you get a credit for unused days on your final bill, but on Unlimited plans you're charged the full month regardless of when you cancel mid-cycle. Service credits are non-refundable. Phones bought through Fi can be returned for a refund only within 15 days of receipt; financed devices require you to pay off the remaining balance at cancellation. Expect two final statements and the entire billing/refund process to take up to 90 days.
“If your accounts are in good standing, depending on your Google Fi plan, we may provide you a prorated refund for unused Services.”

Does Google Fi charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Google Fi’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Google Fi
Based on 4 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Emailing Google Fi to cancel, There is no cancellation-by-email path. Cancellation is done only through the Fi app or fi.google.com (Account → Manage plan → Cancel service / Leave Google Fi). Email/chat is for support, not a cancel channel.
- ✕ Just signing out of the app or removing the SIM, Signing in or out doesn't change service state and doesn't reactivate or cancel it; you must complete the on-screen cancellation flow. Billing continues until formally cancelled.
- ✕ Cancelling to stop a promo/financed-device charge, If you financed a phone or received a device credit/gift card, cancelling triggers the remaining balance or clawback of the promo value being charged to your account.
- ✕ Expecting a fast refund, Users report the refund process is slow, two final statements and up to 90 days; some Reddit/forum users chased refunds for months with cases 'escalated' but unresolved.
- ✕ Cancelling a group plan directly, If you're on a group plan you must first leave or remove all members before the cancellation flow will let you proceed.
Cancelled Google Fi but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Google Fi, treat it as not cancelled. Email
support@fi.google.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Google Fi’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Google Fi charges again.
How Google Fi will try to keep you
Google Fi may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Pause instead of cancel, offered as a softer alternative in the app”
You say: Pausing keeps your number but still bills you through the end of the cycle on Unlimited plans, keeps charging device protection/financing, and auto-resumes after 3 months. If you're leaving, cancel outright and port your number rather than pausing.
They’ll say: “Support promises a 'specialist will email you' to resolve billing/promo disputes”
You say: Reddit users report those specialist emails frequently never arrive. Don't wait passively, keep a written paper trail, re-open chat, and if ignored escalate via a BBB complaint, which users say gets a faster callback from Fi's resolution team.
They’ll say: “Denying promotions/bill credits over minor activation-sequence errors”
You say: If a promo was auto-denied due to an activation timing mistake, document the active lines/devices and dispute it in writing; escalate to Fi's executive/resolution team or file a BBB complaint rather than accepting the first script answer.
They’ll say: “Financed device or promo gift-card clawback at cancellation”
You say: Know your numbers before cancelling: check the remaining device balance and whether you're inside any promo lock window (some device-credit offers claw back if you cancel within 120 days). If close, wait out the window before cancelling.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Google Fi to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Google Fi has ~45 days to defend.
Delete your Google Fi account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Google Fi’s account settings, email support@fi.google.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Google Fi
Cancel in the **Google Fi app or at fi.google.com**: go to the **Account** tab → **Manage plan** → **Cancel service** (labelled **Leave Google Fi** in some flows) and follow the on-screen steps. There's **no cancellation email** and **no termination fee**. If you're on a group plan you must remove members first. Signing out of the app doesn't cancel anything, you must complete the flow. If you want to keep your number, start a port-out to your new carrier before or during cancellation.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Google Fi refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Google Fi contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
