The fastest way

Cancel FloatMe in the app: Settings → Membership → Cancel, at least 1 business day before your renewal Friday. There is no web cancel page and no phone line; you can also email support@floatme.com, subject "Cancel membership + refund $6.99". FloatMe confirms cancellation by email and the app then shows "Pending Cancellation".

Or let yoink do it for you.

The 4-step cancellation

  1. Email the verified address

support@floatme.com, the standard route for FloatMe.

  2. Use a precise subject

Subject: Cancellation Request, [your account email]

  3. Send this template

    Hi FloatMe team,

I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email].

Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through.

Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken.

    Best,
    [your name]
  4. Wait for confirmation

Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

FloatMe plans you can cancel

What happens to what you’ve already paid

Two different charge types matter here. The recurring $6.99 membership fee is declared non-refundable in the Terms, and the help centre adds that if you cancel less than 1 business day before your renewal date the extra month cannot be refunded, you simply keep platform access to the end of that cycle. Optional Instant Float delivery fees ($1, $10 depending on amount) are likewise non-refundable, while the Float advance itself is not a fee at all: it is debited back from your linked account on the repayment date and is non-recourse, so FloatMe will not chase or report unpaid Floats. In practice, discretionary refunds of one or two membership charges are granted through Zendesk support tickets and BBB complaints, especially where duplicate accounts were billed or the member was never eligible for a Float.

Fees related to "Instant" Floats, and membership fees are non-refundable.

Does FloatMe charge a cancellation fee?

FloatMe’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.

What doesn’t work for cancelling FloatMe

Based on 7 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.

Cancelled FloatMe but still being charged?

Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:

If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if FloatMe charges again.

How FloatMe will try to keep you

FloatMe may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.

Your rights when cancelling

The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.

United States

  • FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)
Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.

The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires FloatMe to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.

  • California ARL (auto-renewal law)
    Renewal must be cancellable online.

California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.

Worldwide

  • Card-issuer chargeback
Your bank can reverse the charge.

Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; FloatMe has ~45 days to defend.

Delete your FloatMe account (not just cancel)

Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.

If there’s no delete option in FloatMe’s account settings, email support@floatme.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.

Common questions about cancelling FloatMe

In the FloatMe app tap the profile icon at the top right, open **Membership**, then **Billing** and cancel, the Terms phrase the same path as **Settings > Membership > Cancel**. There is no cancel page on floatme.com. If the in-app flow fails, submit a ticket at floatme.zendesk.com or email **support@floatme.com**; the Google Play listing explicitly says you can cancel by contacting support at that address. Cancel at least **1 business day** before your renewal date, FloatMe blames ACH cut-off times for charges that land after a late cancel. You should get a confirmation email and a "Pending Cancellation" status in-app.

Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the FloatMe refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The FloatMe contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
