Cameo plans you can cancel
- Personalized video (standard delivery)
This is a one-off purchase. Each talent sets their own price, and the homepage listings run from about $18 to $195+. You can cancel from your Orders on cameo.com, from the app, or from the confirmation email, but only while the request is still pending. The talent has up to 7 days, or longer at Cameo's discretion, to fulfil or decline.
- Instant / 24-hour express Cameo
This is a one-off purchase with a shorter delivery promise (0 to 60 minutes for Instant, or options such as 24 hours). You can cancel while it's still pending.
- Business Cameo video
This is a one-off purchase for business promotion or internal company use. The terms send purchase questions to business@cameo.com.
- Follows & Subscriptions (Paid Features)
Renews automatically every month. The terms say to cancel by emailing hello@cameo.com with your username, account email, the talent's name and the Paid Feature, at least one day before the current period ends. This wording comes from the archived terms. The current terms still list a Follows/Subscriptions section.
- Cameo Direct messages, stickers, tips & gift cards
What happens to what you’ve already paid
One-off video bookings (standard, Instant/express and Business): if the talent doesn't fulfil your request within their window (usually 7 days), web and Android orders are refunded to your card, while iOS app orders get USD Cameo credits instead. To turn those credits into cash, use 'request refund' on the order in the iOS app, which goes through Apple. Once a video is delivered it can't be refunded, and neither can tips, gift cards, Cameo Direct messages or stickers. Cameo credits themselves can't be cashed out, and monthly Paid Feature subscriptions aren't refunded, even for part of a month.
“Here's the short version: if your video booking request isn't fulfilled, we'll typically refund the purchase or give you Cameo credits. Completed transactions aren't refundable and can't be returned or exchanged.”

Does Cameo charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Cameo’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Cameo
Based on 6 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Asking Cameo support to refund an iOS app purchase to your card, Cameo's CEO told TechCrunch that iOS purchases are processed by Apple, so Cameo can't issue those refunds. Support sends you to Apple or the in-app 'request refund' button.
- ✕ Asking for a refund on a completed video because you don't like it, Under the terms and the refund page, completed videos can't be returned, exchanged or refunded, and the talent decides how to fulfil your request.
- ✕ Asking Cameo to cash out your account credit balance, The terms say credit balances can't be refunded or transferred. The only way back to cash is Apple's refund route for the original iOS order.
- ✕ Asking for tips, gift cards or Cameo Direct messages to be refunded, The refund page says all of these can't be returned, exchanged or refunded.
- ✕ Cancelling a Paid Feature subscription on the renewal day, The terms say you must email at least one day before the current period ends, or you'll be charged again. Fees aren't refunded for partial periods.
- ✕ Looking for the iOS 'request refund' button based on support's instructions, One App Store reviewer said support's step-by-step directions pointed to a refund button that didn't exist, and they were then told to contact Apple directly.
Cancelled Cameo but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Cameo, treat it as not cancelled. Email
hello@cameo.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Cameo’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Cameo charges again.
How Cameo will try to keep you
Cameo may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Unfulfilled iOS orders are converted to Cameo credits instead of a cash refund”
You say: I don't want credits. Under your refund policy I can request a refund through Apple, so please confirm the credit balance for order [#] is available to be deducted, and that I can use 'request refund' on that order.
They’ll say: “Support redirects you to Apple and stops responding”
You say: Skip support. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, choose the Cameo charge, and pick 'Requested item not delivered'. Attach the expiry or decline notice.
They’ll say: “The confirmation email promises a 'hold' on funds, but you're charged in full and given credits”
You say: Your confirmation email said a hold would be placed and released if the request wasn't fulfilled. It wasn't fulfilled, so please return the funds to my original payment method, not as account credit.
They’ll say: “A late express/24-hour booking is converted to standard delivery with only the price difference refunded”
You say: The express timeframe I paid for was missed and the occasion has now passed. I'd like the entire booking refunded, not converted to a standard request.
They’ll say: “Paid Feature subscriptions can only be cancelled by email, with no confirmation flow”
You say: Please cancel my [Talent] [Paid Feature] subscription. Username: [x]. Account email: [y]. This is more than one day before renewal. Please confirm in writing that no further charges will be made.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Cameo to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Cameo has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Cameo’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Cameo’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Cameo must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Cameo account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Cameo’s account settings, email hello@cameo.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Cameo
You can cancel a Cameo request from the **confirmation email**, from your **Orders on cameo.com**, or in the **Cameo app**, but only before the talent completes it. Sign in with the same account you ordered from. On the website, cancelling releases the payment hold, which can take **3 to 7 business days** to clear, depending on your bank. In the iOS app, the money goes back as Cameo credits. If you want cash, request a refund through Apple on the order in the app.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Cameo refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Cameo contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
