Tu Clothing plans you can cancel
- One-off retail order
Tu Clothing is a retail brand, not a subscription. Per the help centre, once you've checked out your order can't be cancelled, you either refuse delivery or return within 30 days.
Tu Clothing’s refund policy
Tu gives you 30 days from receipt to return online orders for a full refund, as long as items are unworn, unused and have their tags. Return free at a Sainsbury's Tu Click & Collect store, or by Royal Mail post (a £3.50 fee is deducted from your refund unless the item is faulty). Refunds land within 5 to 7 working days for in-store returns, up to 14 working days for postal returns, and up to 30 working days if you paid by PayPal. School uniform gets a special 150-day quality guarantee.
“11.1 You have the right to return Your order up to 30 days following receipt. … 11.7 All refunds will be made to the debit or credit card on which the original purchase was made within 14 working days of Our receipt of the returned goods. 11.8 Your statutory rights are not affected.”

Does Tu Clothing charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Tu Clothing’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide. If you signed up online within the last 14 days, the Consumer Contracts Regulations give you a cooling-off right to walk away, fee-free, for most digital subscriptions.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Tu Clothing
Based on 4 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Cancelling the order online after checkout, Tu's help centre states explicitly that once you've checked out, your order can't be cancelled, you must wait for delivery and return it.
- ✕ Editing or amending an existing order, Tu's order-info page confirms you can't change any part of your order once it's been submitted.
- ✕ Emailing customer service for a refund without phoning, Sainsbury's help centre tells refund queries to phone 0800 328 1700 / 0800 028 6658, email replies are slow and the public-facing site only advertises phone, Facebook Messenger and BSL video.
- ✕ Returning worn or unpackaged items, Returns must be unworn, unused, in original packaging with tags attached and accompanied by proof of purchase, otherwise refunds are refused.
- ✕ Returning hygiene/personalised items (pierced jewellery, face masks, underwear without packaging), Third-party returns guides note hygiene goods and personalised items are excluded from the standard refund policy.
Cancelled Tu Clothing but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Tu Clothing, treat it as not cancelled. Email
tucustomerservices@sainsburys.co.ukreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Tu Clothing’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Tu Clothing charges again.
How Tu Clothing will try to keep you
Tu Clothing may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Phone agent tells you the order can't be cancelled and offers no workaround”
You say: Tu's own T&Cs (clause 11.1) give you 30 days to return for a full refund, and under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days to cancel a distance contract from receipt regardless of in-house policy. Ask them to log a refusal-on-delivery so the courier brings it straight back at no cost.
They’ll say: “Charged £3.50 postal-return fee on a faulty item”
You say: The returns FAQ states the £3.50 is waived if any item in the return is faulty. Reply quoting that line and demand the £3.50 back; also invoke s.20 Consumer Rights Act 2015 (short-term right to reject within 30 days), the trader, not you, must bear return costs for faulty goods.
They’ll say: “Click & Collect parcel auto-returned because you missed the pickup window”
You say: Reviews show Tu refunds the order automatically once the collection window expires (gethuman confirms this). Don't accept a 'we can't do anything' line, ask for written confirmation the refund has been raised and check it lands within 14 working days.
They’ll say: “Refund delayed beyond 14 working days”
You say: Terms clause 11.7 commits to 14 working days from receipt of goods. After that, raise a Section 75 chargeback with your credit-card issuer (purchases £100+) or a debit-card chargeback via your bank, both unlock the money without Tu's cooperation.
They’ll say: “Item arrived damaged/wrong and call-centre asks you to post it back at your cost”
You say: Help centre wording: 'You do not need to pay for goods that are received damage, broken or faulty.' Insist on a free returns label or in-store refund; under UK CRA 2015 you have a 30-day short-term right to reject with no cost to you.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Tu Clothing’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Tu Clothing’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Tu Clothing has ~45 days to defend.
Delete your Tu Clothing account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Tu Clothing’s account settings, email tucustomerservices@sainsburys.co.uk with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under UK GDPR (Article 17, the right to erasure). They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Tu Clothing
You can't. Tu's help centre states: "once you've checked out, your order can't be cancelled." Your two real options are (1) refuse the parcel when the courier arrives (tell them you don't accept it, they'll return it and a refund is triggered) or (2) accept delivery and post it back within 30 days using the pre-paid Royal Mail label (£3.50 is deducted) or drop it at a Sainsbury's Tu Click & Collect for free. Call 0800 028 6658 (8am, 8pm) if you need a manual cancellation logged.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Tu Clothing refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Tu Clothing contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
