Temu plans you can cancel
- Marketplace purchase (no subscription)
Temu is a pay-per-order marketplace, not a subscription. Orders can only be cancelled while still in 'Processing'; once 'Packed' or 'Shipped' the cancel button disappears and the only route is a post-delivery return/refund.
Temu’s refund policy
Temu gives you 90 days from the date of purchase to request a refund on most items (electronics may be 45 or 60 depending on the seller). Once you submit the return request, you have 14 days to actually post the package back. The first return on each order ships free; a second return from the same order has a roughly $7.99 label fee deducted from the refund. Refunds to Temu credits land in minutes; refunds to your original card take 5 to 14 business days.
“The return window for most electronics is 45, 60, or 90 days from the date of purchase depending on the seller. If an item is eligible for a return and refund, you may return it within the return window. You must send your return package back within 14 days of submitting your return request.”

Does Temu charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Temu’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Temu
Based on 4 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Cancelling an order after it shows 'Packed' or 'Shipped', Temu's own help text says once the order is packed it cannot be cancelled directly, you must wait for delivery and then file a return/refund.
- ✕ Uninstalling the Temu app to 'cancel' your account, Uninstalling the app does not delete your account or stop marketing emails, you must use the in-app 'Delete your Temu account' flow and stay logged out for 7 business days.
- ✕ Emailing help@temu.com and waiting, Trustpilot reviewers repeatedly report Temu does not reply to emails; the only reliably staffed channel is the 24/7 live chat (type 'real agent' to bypass the bot).
- ✕ Trying to delete your account while orders or refunds are still open, Deletion is blocked until all active orders, returns and disputes are resolved, and any unused Temu credits/gift cards are forfeited on deletion.
- ✕ Using the US return label to ship from outside the US, Temu's terms state the return label only works for shipments inside the destination country (e.g. United States or Australia); cross-border self-returns are not covered.
Cancelled Temu but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Temu, treat it as not cancelled. Email
help@temu.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Temu’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Temu charges again.
How Temu will try to keep you
Temu may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Offering Temu credits instead of a refund to your original payment method”
You say: Temu credits land in 3 minutes and can only be spent on Temu, once accepted, the refund typically can't be reversed. If you want the money back in your bank, explicitly choose 'original payment method' even though it takes 5 to 14 business days.
They’ll say: “Offering a tiny partial refund to let you keep the item (e.g. 69p on a faulty UV lamp)”
You say: Reject the partial-refund offer in chat and ask for a full refund under Purchase Protection (item not as described / not fit for purpose). If they refuse, escalate via your card issuer or PayPal, UK buyers can use Section 75 or chargeback, EU buyers the Consumer Rights Directive.
They’ll say: “Claiming the seller (not Temu) is responsible because you paid a third-party merchant via PayPal”
You say: Temu's own Purchase Protection covers items that don't arrive, arrive damaged, or don't match the listing regardless of seller. Quote Purchase Protection in chat; if Temu still deflects, open a PayPal dispute, that is what UK reviewers report finally getting their money back.
They’ll say: “Hidden 'subscription' opt-ins on certain product pages (e.g. supplements like bee venom)”
You say: Cancel the subscription in Your Orders the moment you spot the recurring charge, then dispute the charge with PayPal or your card issuer citing unauthorised continuous payment, UK users have reported £62 charges from accidental opt-ins.
They’ll say: “Asking you to ship damaged items back at your expense”
You say: For damaged or wrong items, ask in chat for a 'keep it' refund, multiple users (Tom's Guide, Reddit) confirm Temu often waives the return on low-value broken goods and refunds in full.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Temu to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Temu has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Temu’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Temu’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Temu must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Temu account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Temu’s account settings, email help@temu.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Temu
Open the Temu app or Temu.com, go to **Your Orders**, find the order and tap **Cancel/Other help → I want to cancel item(s) → Cancel checked items**. You'll get a refund confirmation in your message inbox. This only works while the order status is still 'Processing', once it flips to 'Packed' or 'Shipped' the cancel button disappears and you have to wait for delivery, then file a return.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Temu refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Temu contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
