Every way to cancel EarnIn

Timing matters: Revoke ACH authorization with support at least 3 business days before your next scheduled debit; EarnIn Card autopay must be turned off by 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET) one business day before the debit date; closure can take 2 to 3 business days while EarnIn confirms its debits posted, and the same bank details can't be reused for 7 days after the last debit.

The 4-step cancellation

  1. Email the verified address

care@earnin.com, yoink-verified working email for EarnIn (confirmed by tracked cancellations).

  2. Use a precise subject

Subject: Cancellation Request, [your account email]

  3. Send this template

    Hi EarnIn team,

I'm writing to cancel the subscription on my account, [your account email].

Please treat this as formal notice of cancellation, effective from the end of the current billing period. Under the FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule, cancellation must be available through a channel as simple as the one I signed up through.

Please confirm by reply that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be taken.

    Best,
    [your name]
  4. Wait for confirmation

Wait 24 hours. If there's no response, send a polite one-line follow-up referencing the original request.

EarnIn plans you can cancel

What happens to what you’ve already paid

The only refund EarnIn commits to in writing is on TIPS: request within 30 days of the Cash Out being repaid and they refund it, via in-app live chat. Cash Out advances themselves aren't refundable, the debit on payday is repayment of money already sent to you, so the fix there is rescheduling or revoking the debit, not a refund. Transaction fees (Lightning Speed $2.99, $5.99, Early Pay $2.99 per paycheck, $2.99 EarnIn Card ATM fee) have no published refund window and are argued case-by-case with support. Bank overdraft fees are a separate track: EarnIn has historically said it reimburses overdrafts it caused, but disclaims responsibility where the overdraft wasn't its error.

EarnIn will refund a tip if you request a refund within 30 days of repayment of a Cash Out. To request a refund for a tip, please live chat with the EarnIn team through the EarnIn App.

Does EarnIn charge a cancellation fee?

EarnIn’s terms mention conditions worth checking before you cancel, see the plan notes and policy quote above for the specifics we found. In general: rolling monthly plans end at the period you’ve already paid for with nothing extra to pay, while minimum-term or contract plans can carry an early-exit charge until the term ends.

What doesn’t work for cancelling EarnIn

Based on 9 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.

Cancelled EarnIn but still being charged?

Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:

If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if EarnIn charges again.

How EarnIn will try to keep you

EarnIn may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.

Your rights when cancelling

The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.

United States

  • FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)
Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.

The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires EarnIn to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.

  • California ARL (auto-renewal law)
    Renewal must be cancellable online.

California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.

Worldwide

  • Card-issuer chargeback
Your bank can reverse the charge.

Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; EarnIn has ~45 days to defend.

Delete your EarnIn account (not just cancel)

Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.

If there’s no delete option in EarnIn’s account settings, email care@earnin.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.

Common questions about cancelling EarnIn

In the app, open **Settings** (the gear icon, top right, on some versions the ≡ menu), tap your **profile** where your name and phone number are shown, then choose **Close My Account** and follow the prompts to the confirmation screen. The same steps work on your earnin.com account in a mobile browser. Any outstanding Cash Out must be repaid first, EarnIn needs to confirm its debits posted, which usually takes two to three business days. Once closed, you'll get an email confirmation. Keep it.

Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the EarnIn refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The EarnIn contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
