The fastest way
Cancel Alibaba Cloud in the console. For subscriptions, go to Expenses and Costs > Resource Unsubscription (full refund within 5 days of purchase). Release pay-as-you-go resources in each product console, then close the account in Account Center. There's no email cancellation, so open a billing ticket with the subject "Unsubscription refund, [Instance ID]". Refunds usually take about 2 business days.
Or let yoink do it for you.

Alibaba Cloud won’t action a cancellation from an email alone, use the fastest channel above for the cancellation itself. This email still earns its place: it puts your cancellation date in writing (your evidence if they keep billing) and it’s where the refund request happens.

Alibaba Cloud plans you can cancel
- Pay-As-You-Go
Pay-as-you-go resources can't be unsubscribed. Billing stops only when you release or delete each resource in its own product console. Bills are generated hourly, so charges can still appear after you release resources. For Model Studio, delete unused API keys to stop billing.
- Subscription (monthly/yearly instances and resource plans)
Unsubscribe at Expenses and Costs > Resource Unsubscription. This works on a PC only, not in the mobile app. Unsubscribing releases the instance and permanently deletes its data. Unsubscribing an ECS instance does not release its pay-as-you-go disks, snapshots or custom images.
- Developer Support Plan$19.99/mo
Turn off auto-renewal. The plan then ends when the current subscription period finishes.
- Business Support Plan$100.00/mo
Starts at USD 100 and is priced on your cloud usage. Turn off auto-renewal so it ends at the end of the term.
- Enterprise Support Plan$8000.00/mo
Starts at USD 8,000 and is priced on your usage. Arranged through your business manager.
- AI Token Plan$6.00/mo
Advertised as starting from $6/mo. The sources don't say how to cancel this plan specifically.
What happens to what you’ve already paid
Subscription products (monthly/yearly instances, resource plans, Reserved Instances, SCUs) get a full refund, including any vouchers used, if you unsubscribe within 5 calendar days of a new purchase. This applies once per product per calendar year and only if you haven't renewed, upgraded or changed the OS. After 5 days, subscriptions get a partial refund based on how long you used them, and unused renewal orders can be refunded in full before they start. Pay-as-you-go usage (compute hours, traffic, API and model tokens) is never refunded through unsubscription. You stop it by releasing the resource, and disputes over a surprise bill go through a billing ticket. Card refunds return to the original card within 365 days of payment (180 days for PayPal); otherwise, or if the original method fails, the money goes to your Alibaba Cloud account balance.
“Alibaba Cloud subscription products support multiple unsubscription rules, including the 5-day no-reason full refund, partial refunds based on usage duration, and special-scenario unsubscriptions.”

Does Alibaba Cloud charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in Alibaba Cloud’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling Alibaba Cloud
Based on 8 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Unsubscribing pay-as-you-go resources on the Resource Unsubscription page, Pay-as-you-go and free-tier orders can't be unsubscribed there. Billing only stops when you release or delete each resource in its own product console.
- ✕ Unsubscribing an ECS instance and assuming all charges stop, Linked pay-as-you-go disks, snapshots and custom images are not released automatically and keep billing until you delete them yourself.
- ✕ Closing the account while resources are still running or charges are unpaid, Alibaba Cloud says it cannot delete resources for you. Closure fails if there are outstanding charges and the account goes back to active. Delayed pay-as-you-go bills can still arrive after closure is requested.
- ✕ Unsubscribing from the mobile app, Alibaba Cloud's docs say resources can only be unsubscribed on a PC.
- ✕ Claiming a second 5-day full refund for the same product in the same year, The 5-day refund is limited to once per product per calendar year. A second request falls back to a partial refund or may show a zero amount.
- ✕ Asking for a refund of unexpected pay-as-you-go traffic or usage charges, Trustpilot reviewers say support refused refunds for bill shock even after admitting no alert was sent, citing that it 'cannot determine the traffic baseline'.
- ✕ Letting Model Studio suspend for an overdue balance to stop charges, Model inference bills are added up by the minute, so the overdue amount can keep growing after suspension. You have to delete unused API keys.
Cancelled Alibaba Cloud but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from Alibaba Cloud, treat it as not cancelled. Email
contact.us@alibabacloud.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on Alibaba Cloud’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if Alibaba Cloud charges again.
How Alibaba Cloud will try to keep you
Alibaba Cloud may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “Blaming 'personal configuration error' and offering to refund only your unused plan balance if you stop using the service (reported on Trustpilot for the Coding Plan)”
You say: If you're within 5 calendar days of a new purchase, cite the 5-day no-reason full refund in writing and ask for the full amount, including vouchers. If not, ask for the documented partial refund based on usage in the ticket, and keep the ticket ID.
They’ll say: “Turning down bill-shock disputes because they 'cannot determine the traffic baseline' for your account (Trustpilot)”
You say: Point out in the ticket that no usage alert was sent, attach your earlier normal bills, and ask for a goodwill credit. If they refuse, a card chargeback or a complaint to your local consumer body is the next step.
They’ll say: “Sending the refund to your Alibaba Cloud account balance instead of your card (their docs allow this when the refund is larger than the invoice-eligible amount, or after 365 days for cards / 180 days for PayPal)”
You say: Unsubscribe quickly so you stay inside the card/PayPal window. In a billing ticket, ask for the refund to go to the original payment method rather than your balance.
They’ll say: “Putting an account closure into a cool-down period and restoring the account to active if late bills show up”
You say: Release everything first, wait until about the 3rd of the following month for pay-as-you-go bills to settle, pay any remaining balance, then submit the closure. Take screenshots of the Closure Check results.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
United States
- FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule (2024+)Cancel must be as easy as sign-up.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires Alibaba Cloud to make cancelling at least as simple as signing up, same channel, same number of clicks. If they buried the cancel button or forced a phone call, they’re in violation; report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- California ARL (auto-renewal law)Renewal must be cancellable online.
California Business & Professions Code §17602 forces any company billing California residents on auto-renewal to provide an online cancel mechanism. Lawsuits have been won on this; companies often refund quickly when it’s cited.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; Alibaba Cloud has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of Alibaba Cloud’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If Alibaba Cloud’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. Alibaba Cloud must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your Alibaba Cloud account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in Alibaba Cloud’s account settings, email contact.us@alibabacloud.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
Common questions about cancelling Alibaba Cloud
Pay-as-you-go products **don't need unsubscribing, and can't be**. Back up your data, then open each product console (ECS, OSS, NAT Gateway, and so on) and **Release** or **Delete** the resource. Billing starts when a resource is created, even if you never log in, and bills are generated hourly, so a final charge can appear after release. Check for leftover **disks, snapshots and EIPs**. For Model Studio, **delete unused API keys**. If any of your services were covered by a resource plan, they switch to pay-as-you-go once the plan ends.
Money-back questions (windows, pro-rata, chargebacks) are covered in the Alibaba Cloud refund guide. Need a human for something else entirely? The Alibaba Cloud contact guide lists every channel that actually answers.
