3Doodler’s refund policy
3Doodler refunds direct purchases within 30 days of delivery, but only if the pen, filament or accessory is unopened and unused. Opened filament packs and pens that have been used to extrude plastic are excluded. Defective pens fall under a separate 2-year limited warranty offering repair or replacement, not a cash refund. Items bought from Amazon, Target or other resellers must be returned through that retailer's own policy.
“If you've purchased directly from us and you'd like a refund, if the item is unopened and unused, we are happy to honor a refund within 30 days of delivery.”

Does 3Doodler charge a cancellation fee?
We found no cancellation fee in 3Doodler’s published terms. On a rolling plan you simply pay to the end of the current billing period and nothing after. If you’re inside a fixed minimum term, check your signup email for the end date, cancelling early is where fees usually hide.
What doesn’t work for cancelling 3Doodler
Based on 5 sources, Reddit, app reviews, and direct testing. Skip these and save yourself the loop.
- ✕ Requesting a cash refund on an opened or used pen, Refund policy excludes any pen used to extrude plastic and any filament pack with opened packaging, these are routed to warranty (repair/replace) instead.
- ✕ Returning a 3Doodler bought from Amazon/Target/other retailers to 3Doodler directly, Products purchased from a third-party reseller must be returned to that reseller under their own return policy.
- ✕ Phoning a UK support line, Trustpilot reviewers report the only phone option is a US number and email replies can take days or auto-respond.
- ✕ Claiming warranty after self-repair or disassembly, Products returned visibly opened or disassembled (other than under direct instruction from 3Doodler customer service) are not covered and will not be repaired or returned.
- ✕ Cancelling a 'subscription', 3Doodler sells hardware and consumables, there is no recurring subscription product to cancel.
Cancelled 3Doodler but still being charged?
Three common reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The cancellation didn’t actually complete. If you never received a written confirmation from 3Doodler, treat it as not cancelled. Email
help@the3doodler.comreferencing your original request date and ask for written confirmation plus a refund of any charge taken since. - You cancelled in the wrong place. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play bill through Apple or Google, cancelling on 3Doodler’s site doesn’t touch them. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
- Billing lag. A charge that was already in flight when you cancelled can still land a few days later. One trailing charge can be normal; two is not.
If they keep charging after a confirmed cancellation, that’s chargeback territory: dispute the charge with your bank citing “subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing”. The yoink app also flags this automatically, it keeps watching your inbox after a confirmed cancellation and alerts you if 3Doodler charges again.
How 3Doodler will try to keep you
3Doodler may respond with a retention offer, a discount, a free month, or a downgrade to a cheaper tier. Don't engage with the counteroffer. Restate that you want a full cancellation and cite the consumer law again if they push back.
They’ll say: “First-line reply offers troubleshooting/firmware update instead of refund or replacement”
You say: Thanks, but I've already followed the troubleshooting steps in the manual and the pen is still faulty. Under your two-year warranty I'm requesting a replacement (or repair) per the 'Sole Remedy' clause. Please send the RMA and pre-paid return label.
They’ll say: “Automated/templated reply loop with no human follow-up (reported on Trustpilot)”
You say: This is my second contact on order #####. If I don't receive a substantive reply within 5 business days I'll open a chargeback with my card issuer and a Section 75 / consumer-protection claim. Please escalate to a supervisor.
They’ll say: “Refund denied because filament packaging was opened”
You say: Understood that opened filament is excluded from change-of-mind returns, but my claim is that the product is defective (jamming/not extruding), which falls under the 2-year limited warranty, not the returns policy. Please process under warranty.
They’ll say: “Offer of store credit / discount code instead of cash refund”
You say: I'd prefer the refund to the original payment method, as stated in your Returns policy ('We will make the refund directly to the credit/charge card/PayPal account used to place the original order').
They’ll say: “Claim denied because no proof of purchase”
You say: Per your warranty page, where proof of purchase isn't available the warranty is determined by the serial number on the pen. Here is the serial number: [#####]. Please proceed.
Your rights when cancelling
The law where you live is the strongest hook, lead with it when you contact the company.
Worldwide
- Card-issuer chargebackYour bank can reverse the charge.
Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all run chargeback schemes, “goods/services not as described” or “subscription not cancelled” are valid reason codes everywhere they operate. Your bank handles the dispute; 3Doodler has ~45 days to defend.
Rights in other regions (United Kingdom, European Union)
United Kingdom
- Consumer Contracts Regulations 201314-day cooling-off on new subscriptions.
You can terminate any continuous service contract within 14 days of starting it and recover any payment, no questions asked. Applies regardless of 3Doodler’s own policy.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015Services must be as described.
If 3Doodler’s service was misrepresented or didn’t deliver what was promised, you have a statutory right to remedy (repair, refund, or price reduction) regardless of their terms.
European Union
- Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU14-day right of withdrawal across all EU states.
EU-wide statutory right to withdraw from any distance-sold contract within 14 days. Mirrored into local law in every member state. 3Doodler must honour it regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Delete your 3Doodler account (not just cancel)
Cancelling stops the billing; deleting removes your account and personal data. Do them in that order, deleting an account with an active subscription can leave the billing running with no way to log in and stop it.
If there’s no delete option in 3Doodler’s account settings, email help@the3doodler.com with the subject Account deletion request, [your account email] and ask for your account and personal data to be erased under state privacy laws such as the CCPA. They’re typically required to act on it, most companies complete erasure within about 30 days, and you should ask for written confirmation when it’s done.
