REFUND GUIDE

How to Get a Capital One Travel Refund, Not Credit.

Inside 1 days their own policy is on your side; statutory cooling-off rights may stack on top. Outside it, you've still got tools, a clear email, a card-issuer chargeback, the lot. Here's the playbook for Capital One Travel.

The short answer

Capital One Travel is a booking portal, not a subscription, so refunds depend on the booking. For flights, the airline decides whether you get a refund, and Capital One Travel only processes cancellations the airline approves. You can often cancel without penalty within 24 hours of booking by calling 844-422-6922, and a non-refundable fare usually turns into an airline credit. For hotels, non-refundable rooms are charged in full, and refundable ones must be cancelled through Capital One Travel, not the hotel, or you risk losing the refund. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, and bookings paid partly in miles are refunded proportionally. Price-match refunds and Cancel for Any Reason add-ons follow their own rules: price-match money comes back as travel credit, and the flight add-on refunds about 80%.

How long does a Capital One Travel refund take?

Most merchants agree to a straightforward refund within 1 to 3 working days of a well-written email request. Once agreed, the money itself takes another 3 to 5 working days to land, that part is card-network processing and no merchant can skip it. If nothing has arrived 10 working days after a written “refund approved”, reply on the same thread asking for the ARN (acquirer reference number), which your bank can trace.

Note Capital One Travel’s own policy works on a 1-day window, ask inside it and the request is routine; outside it you’re relying on goodwill or statutory rights.

Refund FAQ for Capital One Travel

Sometimes. It depends on what you booked. **Flight** refunds are always up to the airline, and Capital One Travel only processes cancellations the airline approves, so voluntarily cancelling a non-refundable fare usually gets you an airline credit. **Refundable hotel** bookings are refunded if you cancel inside the hotel's window, but non-refundable rooms are charged in full. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method, and split card-plus-miles payments are refunded proportionally. If the airline cancels or significantly changes your flight, US DOT rules generally entitle you to a cash refund. Call **844-422-6922** to claim it.
